It was just about a once in a lifetime experience to see the British Metal legends - SAXON - do an unforgettable show for a few hundred of us at such an intimate venue.....the Brass Mug in north Tampa! They were spot-on and they played lots of early stuff from the 70s and 80s. Sure it was stuffy and warm in the bar, but that still didn't stop us from having a great time. Met their guitarist, Doug, after the show and chatted for a few minutes and he graciously obliged a photo. He was as nice as can be. The Band Played On for about two hours with an epic set:
Thunderbolt
Sacrifice
Wheels of Steel
Strong Arm of the Law
Denim and Leather
Battering Ram
Frozen Rainbow
Backs to the Wall
They Played Rock and Roll
The Power and the Glory
Hungry Years
Dogs of War
Heavy Metal Thunder
Ride Like the Wind
Lionheart
The Eagle Has Landed
To Hell and Back Again
Dallas 1pm
Crusader
----- encore-----
747 Strangers in the Night
Princess of the Night
..... and just like that, the evening was over and they were off to South Florida for the Monsters of Rock Cruise.....
If they happen to return to Tampa, I'll be one of the first to buy tickets...
