SASQUATCH! FESTIVAL:

Sasquatch! Music Festival is living up to its name in 2014, bringing the Pacific Northwest not one, but two massive holiday weekends of top-notch performances. Just as the announcement of the Labor Day lineup featuring Outkast and The National had fans feeling dizzy, the Fourth of July weekend bill topped by Soundgarden and Kraftwerk came and knocked them on their asses. Not to worry, the daze will certainly wear off in time for fans to enjoy the festival's pristine river gorge location, state-of-the-art light and sound technology, and five stages of world-class music.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Created in 2002 by Adam Zacks as a way to cater to audiences' increasingly eclectic music tastes, Sasquatch! Festival has grown to become one of the Pacific Northwest's premier summer music festivals. Featuring artists from an ever-increasing array of genres, the festival has boasted some of the biggest names in music in its 12-year existence, including Bjork, The Cure, and Nine Inch Nails. With wooded campgrounds and cleverly named stages like the Bigfoot Stage and the Yeti Stage, fans are sure to get a decidedly Pacific Northwest experience at the 2014 festival.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"This event was unforgettable. There were so many great bands and the people there were all so chill and accepting. I am definitely going again next year..."

"Sasquatch was absolutely amazing. The lineup was legendary and each artist put on a fantastic show."

"Aside from the music, the bathrooms are surprisingly clean, the food vendors at the campsite definitely palatable, and the fellow concertgoers as friendly and fun seeking as my own posse."

Sasquatch was pretty lacking and watered-down this year. I think it was a horrible idea to expand the festival to 2 weekends. The worst part is that Memorial Day weekend was shortened to 3 days but still the same price!! Ridiculous!! Because of this, I believe that the selection of bands this year was not as good as years previous.

The most gorgeous place to experience live music.

    by Crow4 on 6/14/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

2013 was my first year to Sasquatch, and man will I be coming again. The camping is so laid back and the people are very friendly. The one drawback is the distance to walk to the venue, but it isn't the worst and is definitely worth it. The venue is rather small and the stages are pretty close to one another, sometimes you could hear the music from the other stages. But, the setting, people, music, and views are unforgettable. I still have flashbacks to sets and how much fun I had. Greatest music festival experience and I can't wait for next year. It's something you can't beat.

Amazing people, beautiful scenery, steller shows!!

    by Venus0nfireoralyssa on 6/7/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

The Sasquatch! Music festival is our annual vacation. The people that you meet will become lifetime concert going friends. The line up this year was perfection. The gorge is an beautiful backdrop for your favorite artists. I always feel like the bands have so much more energy at the gorge. They are so pumped to play it makes for some really one of the kind shows. There were a few mix ups this year, stage changes and late starts. The one thing tht drives me crazy about this festival is how messy the concert goers are. People throw their trash everywhere. The staff provide plenty of trash cans and people just don't care the campsites get trashed and people live in it for 6 days!! It's downright disgusting. I would recommend this festival to people with open minds ( because you WILL see everything under the sun ) also people who enjoy camping, drinking games and amazing music. People who will clean up after themselves. PLEASE IF YOU DECIDE TO COME TO THIS FESTIVAL DON'T LITTER - trash cans are provided but bring bags for personal trash and cans. You will love this festival. It is like Disneyland for adults!

    Blastsquatch!

by BTownBoogie on 6/7/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

Sasquatch music festival is not something that can be described by simply words. Everything from the atmosphere to the experience and everything in between is simply enthralling. An absolute 10 out of 10!

Loved it! Been waiting for years to hear the Postal Service live! Piece of advice - get a sponsor to offer a phone charging station! Those of us who tent-it (majority of the the folks) don't have easy access to phone chargers. I saw many people using the outlets for the lighting in the trees to charge phones.

Would do it again with some changes

    by alifitz1000 on 6/5/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

I'm glad I went to Sasquatch music fest. I am older (42) and appreciated the private areas and thought that this was money well spent. However, when told that there would be refreshment I didn't think it just be fried chicken and fries, and beer. For my money I expected something a little more - a veggie and fruit tray, a deli tray for simple sandwiches, simple dips and the like. For next year, I would recommend investing a little more on the amenities for the VIP sections, namely: - better food (it doesn't have to be complicated, but for the cost of the ticket it should look better than the leftover school lunch line) - Fresh coffee and hot water for tea (I do not drink alcohol and could not recoup my cost in booze, as some others did, but like any other good Washingtonian I'm a fool for good coffee.) I did like the no-waiting in line for the bathroom, the separate space from 30,000 drunk twenty-year-olds, and the chairs for when my tired feet needed a break. I plan on buying another VIP ticket next year if the accommodations are improved, and I plan on bringing friends with me. Please make these small improvements! Talking with others who held these tickets, a great many of them felt the same. That said, I look very much forward to attending Sasquatch again, as well as other venues at the Gorge.

    Who did the planning?

by nickitamiko on 6/3/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

There were so many amazing bands spread out over 4 days. I had a great time and saw a lot of good acts. I was REALLY disappointed I could not see Alt-J, Lumineers and The Postal Service because they were scheduled so late on Monday. If I wanted to see them, I had to take a full day off on Tuesday. Please be considerate to your working audience and consider scheduling big acts earlier on a holiday Monday.

The most beautiful stage on earth

by Protexxblue on 6/3/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

Despite a certain lack of cooperation from the weather, the mix of bands and mild desert air was phenomenal. While the headliner wasn't nearly as big as last year, it was wonderful to see how much some of last year's side stage acts have grown (I'm looking at you, Macklemore, but there were others). Aside from the music, the bathrooms are surprisingly clean, the food vendors at the campsite definitely palatable, and the fellow concertgoers as friendly and fun seeking as my own posse. See you next year!

    Best weekend of my life

by HansM on 6/2/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

This event was unforgettable. There were so many great bands and the people there were all so chill and accepting. I am definitely going again next year because just being there in itself was enough of an experience, but adding all those great bands on top makes it so incredible.

    Sasquatch amazing but crowded

    by Coolbreeze141 on 6/2/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

Bottom line, this festival has sold out. This is my third time going and yes I had a great time, especially on Monday when the rain finally drove about 30% of the people OUT! Sasquatch is trying to maximize its profits by allowing the maximum amount of people into the festival this means ass to elbow room at every show, even the smaller ones. It never used to be this way. That being said, I really had a good time and saw some of the shows of my life, vampire weekend, the postal service, sigur ros, amazing lineup. Also FIX THE DANG HONDA STAGE. Why can these people not get that stage's sound to work properly? I saw some of the best shows of my life there, but every show I saw there (every year) had terrible sound problems. They ruined a guitar solo at vampire weekend, and I have a sinking suspicion that the dude from Empire of the Sun smashed his guitar at the end of the show because of sound problems, it was actually pretty cool.

    Sasquatch 2013

by pelorusnorth on 6/1/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

Really enjoyed the music but there were a lot of issues with the venue. - the quality in camping varied widely, some people got great sites while others were packed in tight and really far away from the venue. Not fair at all. - The noise from the other stages esp. the club tent would leak into the mainstage area, ruining acoustic acts like Mumford and Sons, Tallest Man on Earth and The Lumineers. - The secondary stages were behind schedule and the sound quality was very poor. I felt bad for the amazing bands like Vampire weekend, Alt-J, and The Dirty Projectors who had their sound cut out on them or had mediocre sound levels. - Overall the event didn't have to be 4 days. It's gotten to big and crazy.

    Sasquatch 2013!

by beezyjade on 5/30/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

As always, Sasquatch rocked my socks. This was my fourth year attending and I had a total blast. The music was great (although there were a few hiccups with timing, cancellations, and super long sound checks...*COUGH* Menomena *COUGH*). Overall, it was an awesome time. Best festival I could ask for.

    Sasquatch was Amazing!

by LunchboxDave on 5/30/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

The Sasquatch Music Festival is/was on my bucket list and now I can cross it off. It was an amazing weekend filled with great artists. The only downside was the cost of food and beverages inside. I understand that venues will be more expensive than usual but the prices were crazy!

    Sasquatch 2013

by SP11 on 5/30/13The Gorge, Washington - George

This was my 4th year attending Sasquatch, and the music and bands did not disappoint. A great line-up was planned by the festival organizers, including Alt-J, Mumford and Sons, Imagine Dragons, Holy Ghost! and Grimes. All amazing. Two big downfalls this year were that none of the music started on-time and that the Bigfoot stage had horrible sound problems. Sound at the Bigfoot stage: at the Grimes show, if you weren't standing directly in front of the stage, you couldn't hear anything. It was like she was miming into the microphone while a bunch of bass played. And that was only if the sound was even working. For some shows, the sound would just cut out or fail, which made people leave. I felt bad for the artists, but after the 5th or 6th time this happened, you just felt bad for yourself for paying so much money. Starting on-time: some of the shows were up to 2 hours late. On Sunday, we waited for Tame Impala to come on at 10pm, but they showed up at almost midnight. I'm not sure if it was band drama or the sound, but this made all the other shows after them late too, so we got out of there at 2am. Not a big deal to stay up late at a festival, except for the fact that all the vendors close early, so we couldn't get any water afterward. Before the Imagine Dragons show, Azealia Banks was supposed to be on but inadvertently cancelled. No announcement was made so we could go enjoy another show at another stage - we just waited, not sure what was going on. So other than more than 70% of the shows starting late and the sound problems, the festival itself is amazing. The crowd is diverse and not full of hipsters, security doesn't have a chip on its shoulder, you can have naps on the hill anytime you want, you can see the band from anywhere you stand, and the views and music are epic. I'm disappointed that they let the ball drop on the sound and timing, but every year they keep it fresh so I would go back next year for sure!

Do I have to come back to the real world?

by CaptainRainier on 5/30/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

Sasquatch was absolutely amazing. The lineup was legendary and each artist put on a fantastic show. The festival game me a chance to completely forget about everything going on in life (especially the 18 credits I was taking at UW) and enjoy the better things in life. Definitely going again next year!

    Earth Shatteringly Amazing

    by MandaBaby1234 on 5/29/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

My first time ever at the gorge or at a music festival. It exceeded all my expectations. I hadn't heard of most of the bands but every single one I saw put on a great show, including, Macklemore, The Lumineers, Imagine dragons, capital cities, empire of the sun, and the postal service. The camping was great, the staff was friendly, and the people attending were awesome.

    Sasquatch 2013

by Sluuggg on 5/29/13Gorge Amphitheatre - George

Sasquatch is the best weekend of the year, and this year exceeded my high expectations. I loved how friendly all my neighbors were, I liked how the shows started a little later so people had time to hang out at camp for a while, the lineup was absolutely amazing, and this is a weekend that I wont ever forget. There is something about the being at the gorge that makes you realize how beautiful everything really is. I can't even explain the feelings I got from singing and dancing in the pit to some of my favorite artists. I actually forget sometimes how happy I can actually feel, but this festival always reminds me.
