Saskatchewan Roughriders History
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional team in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and one of the oldest professional North American sports franchises. Originally competing as the Regina Rugby Club in 1910, the team name settled permanently on the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1946 before joining the nascent CFL in 1958. The Roughriders made the playoffs every year from 1962 to 1976, winning their first Grey Cup in 1966. Overall, the team has made 19 Grey Cup appearances, with four wins including 1989, 2007 and 2013. Across their history, the Saskatchewan Roughriders roster has consisted of 20 Canadian Football Hall of Famers, seven Annis Stukus Trophy winners for the CFL’s top head coach and and four Most Outstanding Players, as well as four recipients of the Most Outstanding Canadian Award, six Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Awards, three John Agro Special Teams Awards and two Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards. The Roughriders’ rivalry with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has led to two annual matchups between the traditional Labour Day Weekend game and the now-dubbed Banjo Bowl the following weekend.

Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium
Rider Nation have been gathering for Saskatchewan Roughriders home games at Mosaic Mosaic Stadium since its opening in 2017. The 33,500-seat venue replaced the Roughriders’ long-standing home at the historic Taylor Field after eight decades. The spectator-friendly setting is complete with sunken-bowl seating and tiled panels that partially cover three sides of the field to protect from the Prairie weather. Fans set a capacity record at 33,506 during a 2019 Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup against rivals the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2022, Mosaic Stadium hosted the Grey Cup for the first time, marking the fourth time the championship game was held in the city of Regina.

Mosaic is such a great place to watch football! The weather and atmosphere was amazing!
Great game!! Awesome time! Fabulous team! Had a geeat time!
Well, considering our coach let us down, did not call a timeout at 2nd quarter for a 3 point kick, thank god for our guys completing the final touchdown.
Really enjoyed the football game. Didn’t enjoy A&W piggy backing on the Saskatchewan Roughriders to promote their meatless burgers and misinformation of a marketing campaign.
Best football experience on the planet is a Rider’s home game at Mosaic Stadium! The stadium is beautiful and the crowd and energy level is off the charts! I travel from Chicago twice a year to Regina for a Roughrider game! CFL is way more entertaining than the NFL!
Lots of fun Great friends Tickets were awesome. Ordering on Ticketmaster worked well
Took my 3 nephews and you couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and volunteers. Love going to RIDER games, going to 5 more including 1 in Toronto. Can’t wait to experience the trip with my nephew!!
Best place to watch football! Amazing experience! I keep going back because it's the best!
From Alberta , but, home was Sask many years ago. Always wanted to go to a Riders game and what better time than to see the new stadium as well. Game didn't turn out the way we all wanted, but, the tribute to the Humboldt Broncos was worth the trip. Well done Saskatchewan! The Stadium is fantastic! Seats are roomy with cup holders for every seat. And, every level has concessions and plenty of bathrooms. Fans were super loud and it was fun to be a part of that! And, free transit to the game by showing your game ticket! Great fun and great experience. Thank you Regina and the Roughriders!
Just LOVE the energy of being at a “live” rider game. Best team/fans ever
Beautiful new stadium! Great fans! Roughriders games are the most fun in the CFL! Every CFL fan should experience a Riders home game at Mosaic!
As a Manitoban Rider fan I absolutely loved the game and new Mosaic Stadium. I look forward to the Banjo Bowl !!! GO RIDERS GO!!
We had the most wonderful time at the Saskatchewan Roughriders/BC Lions game at Mosaic Stadium. The new stadium is great. Food and beer were good. There isn't a bad seat in the house and ours were really good. Cant Wait to go again.
Great seats and an amazing atmosphere. I would highly recommend going to a game to anyone that enjoys football
This game was very intense! Winning, losing, winning, losing and the Riders came out on top by 1 point! They pulled together and were successful. It was an intense game and it is always amazing to see the Sea of Green!
My first CFL game, and a different experience from the American version Lots of fun, but a better performance by the home team would have made it better Regina definitely needs a new stadium (with escalators to get to the upper levels !!!!!) which is currently under construction
Visiting from Michigan (Go Blue!), my wife and I attended the RR/Stamps game Aug 22. We had a great time. The atmosphere, the old stadium and the die-hard Rider fans were fantastic. Although it is tough for me to root for green and white (MSU's colors), we found ourselves totally caught up in, and thoroughly enjoyed, the Rider experience.
The atmosphere of Taylor Field was awesome! Fans were great to be around and the game was great to watch, First time being at Taylor Field and I was very happy with the overall experience. =)
Awesome game!! First one for my girlfriend who is originally from Ontario but is now a Riders fan. She really enjoyed it and got to experience southern Saskatchewan first hand.
I would recommend purchasing the "me plus three" packages. Great value, awesome seats.
