San Antonio Spurs History
The story of the San Antonio Spurs began in the summer of 1973, when a group of local investors leased the Dallas Chaparrals and brought professional basketball to San Antonio. Midway through that first season, the group purchased the team outright, planting the roots of what would become one of the NBA’s most respected franchises.
The Spurs spent their first three seasons in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1976, alongside the Nets, Nuggets, and Pacers. Since entering the league, San Antonio has become a model of sustained success, boasting the second-highest winning percentage (.595) among all NBA teams. Over the decades, the Spurs have captured five NBA championships and 22 division titles.
The team has honored its legends by retiring 10 jersey numbers, including Hall of Famers George "Iceman" Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker—all of whom helped define generations of Spurs basketball.
The 2025–26 season marks a significant moment in Spurs history. After 29 seasons as head coach, Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has transitioned into the role of President of Basketball Operations. Stepping into the head coaching role is Mitch Johnson, officially named the 19th head coach in franchise history after serving as acting head coach for the majority of last season.
On the court the Silver and Black are led by NBA All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. They are joined by Spurs veterans Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan while Stephon Castle, the NBA’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, returns for his second season. This summer the Spurs added veteran leadership with the additions of Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk. The 2025 NBA Draft brought more young talent to San Antonio, including No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and No. 14 pick Carter Bryant.

Great Game, Wifi Still Too Slow.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Watched the game with the family. Great arena. Convenient parking. Good food inside except if you buy s bottle of anything they have to take the lid off.... So stay with an open bottle for the rest of the game. Had seats way in the back but we were able to see and enjoy the game really well. And the Spurs won so it made it even sweeter.
Wow. that was a great game. Ticketest were fine. Had a great time :)
We had a blast. The Spurs have great fans who help make the game exciting. The Spurs played a good game and are winners in my heart.
Go Spurs Go! I would pay ~100$ to avoid the nose bleed section.
The Spurs opened their season opener against the Brookyn Nets and it was nothing short of amazing. I was upgraded to Section 10 from Section 128 and it made my experience that much more rewarding. Go SPURS Go!
Awesome family night. We were all hoping Marcus would make his baskets and he did. The whole team gelled and it was an incredible win. Blessings to all.
Regular season starts Oct 28th in OKC. Nuff said about this year's preseason! Kudos to Lamarcus for putting in voluntary "OT" shooting practice. Bottom Line answer: Wouldn't recommend that spurs- phx fiasco to my worst enemy, let alone a friend! Pop had good reason to be hot.
New ATT ix great. New Huge Jumbotron and Sounf System. New restaurants.
Section 200 was very comfortable and not a long section like to the sides of the court. Was able to see the full court. I would recommend these seats.
The game was great! However we lost and that was no fun. The whole express fantastic
The Spurs game was great! The atmospher is something you will never forget. The staff at the AT&T Center are great. My little brother and I had a great time. We will definitely do it again.
Game was fun and the atmosphere was amazing. There was always something going on during the breaks.
The seats were in section 229to theft of the basket.. We were in row 4 on the end and we could see all the action.. For the price, we would definitely sit here again even though the seats were like folding chairs..
Amazing game to be a part of in fantastic seats! What a thrill to watch the game with 16K of my Spurs family! Go Spurs Go!
Unfortunately the outcome wasn't what I hoped, but the atmosphere is always great. There's nothing like watching the Playoffs live! Everything is always great at the AT&T Center.... the people, employees, etc.
The fan experience is unforgettable. I took my niece to the Spurs game even though it was going to be a late game. The experience was unforgettable for us. We sat next to Spurs Jesus. I took a picture of my niece with Spurs Jesus in his Fiesta sombrero...lol. Spurs won by a large margin. Timmy blocks the shot. Passes the ball to Tony Parker. Tony drives up the court, passes it to Danny Green. Danny shoots the ball up the hoop. "Kawhigh" jumps above the hoop, grabs the ball, and dunks it with force! The crowd goes wild and blows the roof off the AT&T center. Yea!
IT WAS THE BEST GAME EVER WITH LOTS OF MUSIC AND CHANTING GO SPURS GO. THE THREE POINT SHOTS WERE EXCELLENT, SO WERE THE REBOUNDS, TWO POINTERS AND THE SLAM DUNKS WERE AWESOME. AND BEST OF ALL THE SPURS WON. GO SPURS GO
The game play was outstanding. But the venue was terrible. The seats were suoercramped and were so painful my legs fell asleep from the tight bend. We had to stand much of the time because the seats were too painful to sit. We paid over $200 a seat. Would at least expect that for that price we could sit down for the entire game. I love the Spurs. But I don't care for the Att center
