Absolutely great show all around. Both bands before her warmed up the crowd and then Fish killed it to close the night. Waited and signed autographs and talked to all the fans and was gracious with everyone. Great person and even better player.
Wow, what a show. Samantha Fish and her great band were just lights out amazing. This tight-knit power trio have really come together. Their timing and their stage presence continue to grow as they crank out the blues. I've seen them about 15 times and they keep blowing me away every time! Catch them if you can because their rocket to stardom is ready for takeoff.
I have seen Samantha Fish perform many times in and around the KC area, but this show was truly special. It was the release party for her second solo studio CD, "Black Wind Howlin'". Levee Town, the opening act, was great, but when Sam and her band, Bassist Chris Alexander, and Drummer Go Go Ray took the stage, the sold-out crowd erupted and she didn't disappoint!! A FANTASTIC set of almost entirely new material from the CD was highlighted by her use of four guitars, including excellent use of an acoustic which I had never seen her play live before. She kept raising the energy and technical excellence throughout the 90 minute set until she delivered a SCORCHING version of the CD title track. And then...just when I thought it couldn't get any better...came the Encore...a STAGGERING cover of Black Sabbath's War Pigs!!! Pure Magnificence throughout!!
