It's been 10 long years, but I remember the Lover's Rock concert as if it happened last night. I was 3rd row center. India Arie was the Opening Act. Running late, I arrived towards the end of India Arie's performance (not knowing that she too is a great live performer). I was very upset with myself. Afterwards, there was a brief intermission. The wait was unbearable. Anxiety was at a all-time high. But when the lights went out and the curtain opened it was like being catapulted into a whole stratosphere. Her band is the best band on the planet. Hearing her voice on top of it send chills down your spine. I still can't believe how hoarse I was when the concert hand ended. I felt like a kid with a school-yard crush. I clung to every note. I still can't believe that she chose my hometown (Baltimore, MD) to kick off her U.S Tour. I feel honored that she chose us. You would think that a tour of this magnitude would open in Madison Square Garden or the Staples Center, but not First Mariner Arena. Tickets go on sale Saturday. I will definitely be in line Friday night camping out to be one of the first in line. This show will definitely sell out! If you've never seen her live, do yourself a favor. You owe it to yourself not to miss this concert. She is the greatest live performer of our generation, period!
