About

Sabaton on Tour

There's a very good reason that Swedish metal band Sabaton have been nominated multiple times for Best Live Band at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. In concert, the group are a well-oiled riffing machine driven by thrashing guitars, epic keyboards and punishing drums. Charismatic vocalist Joakim Brodén, meanwhile, encourages the crowd's enthusiasm and the aggression around him onstage like a cool-under-fire circus ringmaster. The resulting show feels like an ecstatic communal experience in which audience members are bonded together by the (very metal) mayhem.

Sabaton have toured with acts such as DragonForce and HammerFall bringing venues like The Fillmore (Detroit) and The Fillmore (Minneapolis) to capacity, and appeared at major events such as the UK's Download Festival. The band also did a 20th-anniversary celebration gig at the 2019 Wacken Open Air festival that featured special appearances from multiple former members. And, since 2008, the band have thrown their own Sabaton Open Air festival, which features a packed lineup of hard rock and metal bands in addition to a unique Sabaton headlining gig.

Sabaton in Concert

Formed in 1999, Sabaton have pushed Swedish metal forward into remarkable new directions. Across their career, the band have specialized in well-researched lyrics rooted in world history and military-related events, including 2019's "Bismarck," a tune named after (and inspired by) the epic German battleship that sank in spring 1941.

Sabaton have also released several albums inspired by great works (for example, Sun Tzu's legendary book The Art of War inspired 2008's The Art of War) and important events: 2012's Carolus Rex is all about the Swedish empire's ill-fated existence, while World War I informed the concept of 2019's The Great War. Although Sabaton are frequently considered to be power metal, their music isn't easily pigeonholed. Their majestic guitar melodies and intricate solos echo heavy metal greats of the 1980s and '90s, while the cinematic keyboards and slick production conjure symphonic metal's theatrical bent.

by The Roots on 10/21/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

This was my son's first concert (he is 16) and according to him it was freaking awesome. Sabaton is one of his favorite groups and seeing them live was his once in a lifetime greatest experience. He can not wait for Sabaton to come back to Phila., PA, hopefully very very soon. Thank you.

    Great Energy

by Torgo on 10/21/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I love that they opened their set with a short spot on the National WWI Monument program. They played a solid set with great crowd interaction, even if they didn't play all the songs I wanted to hear, I know they played a lot of other peoples' favorites. Would love to travel to Europe in the future to see them playing at a much, much larger venue.

    OH... MY... GOD

by Pete on 10/21/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I've been listening to Sabaton for years and this was the first time I saw them live. The music was loud, the Venue was amazing, the members were so interactive with their Audience. the starting act Epica was phenomenal, I am so surprised haven't heard of them sooner. If you love metal, if you love loud music, and if you love small venues, this one would have been a dream come true. I'd give anything to do this again

History being made at the Fillmore

by Sara on 10/21/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Epica and Sabaton blew me away I can’t wait for them to come back. During a time where all of our Philadelphia teams are dominating sports and listening to their metal music has been the ultimate soundtrack to my life. Their shows give people a history lesson that isn’t boring and knowing that hundreds of people can have different likes and beliefs but join as one one during a show is a show in amongst itself.

Band was great. Venue was ehhhh

by Bjenn on 10/21/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Sabaton was amazing. The bar area was nice. Had a decent menu as well. A little on the expensive side but it was nice to see. My biggest problem with The Fillmore is that there is NOWHERE to sit at ticket price other than the bar area. All other seating areas and balcony are considered VIP and cost extra. I tried to upgrade my genera admission tickets and it was an extra $150 per ticket to do so.

Sabaton brings great energy to the stage. And who doesn’t love a band that puts a tank on stage. The crowd stayed energized throughout the show.

    Amazing concert

by Gianni F on 10/21/22The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Epica opened, I had heard one song from them before and it was good; they played above my expectations. Sabaton played after and the songs were 11/10 would see again. The entire pit was jumping and dancing the entire time; in between songs Joakim would talk to the audience which along with the music cements me as a fan for life. Would highly recommend

Both Epica and Sabaton sounded fantastic, and the venue was very accommodating of my fiance's injury and found us seating. Both sets started exactly on time and sounded clear

    Best since the 90's!

by Renee T. on 10/19/22Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Other than the 7 hour drive to get there, EVERYTHING about this show was great! (Which in turn made the 14 hrs spent in the car totally worth it!) Superb performances, relaxed atmosphere, everyone seemed to have a wonderful time!
