About

Sabaton on Tour

There's a very good reason that Swedish metal band Sabaton have been nominated multiple times for Best Live Band at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. In concert, the group are a well-oiled riffing machine driven by thrashing guitars, epic keyboards and punishing drums. Charismatic vocalist Joakim Brodén, meanwhile, encourages the crowd's enthusiasm and the aggression around him onstage like a cool-under-fire circus ringmaster. The resulting show feels like an ecstatic communal experience in which audience members are bonded together by the (very metal) mayhem.

Sabaton have toured with acts such as DragonForce and HammerFall bringing venues like The Fillmore (Detroit) and The Fillmore (Minneapolis) to capacity, and appeared at major events such as the UK's Download Festival. The band also did a 20th-anniversary celebration gig at the 2019 Wacken Open Air festival that featured special appearances from multiple former members. And, since 2008, the band have thrown their own Sabaton Open Air festival, which features a packed lineup of hard rock and metal bands in addition to a unique Sabaton headlining gig.

Sabaton in Concert

Formed in 1999, Sabaton have pushed Swedish metal forward into remarkable new directions. Across their career, the band have specialized in well-researched lyrics rooted in world history and military-related events, including 2019's "Bismarck," a tune named after (and inspired by) the epic German battleship that sank in spring 1941.

Sabaton have also released several albums inspired by great works (for example, Sun Tzu's legendary book The Art of War inspired 2008's The Art of War) and important events: 2012's Carolus Rex is all about the Swedish empire's ill-fated existence, while World War I informed the concept of 2019's The Great War. Although Sabaton are frequently considered to be power metal, their music isn't easily pigeonholed. Their majestic guitar melodies and intricate solos echo heavy metal greats of the 1980s and '90s, while the cinematic keyboards and slick production conjure symphonic metal's theatrical bent.

Getting the VIP tickets to the Sabaton show was 100% worth the cost and wait, they knew how to work the crowd and put on one hell of a show. Will be going to see them again next year.

    Great show venue not organized

by Dobetter on 10/26/22Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Show was great venue needs to be better organized. It took over 1-1/2 yo get everyone in the door. Your selection of beverages have a lot to be desired. I don’t drink soda just wanted seltzer water not a hard seltzer so I drank water. Ice tea, seltzer water would be appreciated.

Seeing this band in concert made them my ultimate favorite band. Usually I’m more into classic rock and metal but this band really has something special. Forever obsessed with this group of talent.

Really good performance by both bands

by ChrisJC on 10/26/22Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Went with my son as he is a huge Sabaton fan. Both bands were really tight and gave great performances. Sound mix on Epica was a bit off as the female singer was buried quite a bit and the boominess of the kick drum was just a bit overdone, even for that genre of music. Saboton's mix was noticeably better. I was surprised that, since it was the last show of the tour, that they didn't do an encore. Music ended at 11pm and that was it! As for the venue, the sound was decent, but seating was horrendous. We chose to get seats in the balcony rather than stand on the floor. The 'seats' at the Hammerstein were literally hotel banquet chairs stuffed 2 deep into what should have been single seat rows. There was zero leg room and the chairs were right up against each other in the row. I'm surprised the fire Marshall didn't have an issue with that.

    Horrible sound

by Peter on 10/26/22Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

This was one of the worst shows in my recent memory. The sound was so bass heavy like if the guitar players and the singer never even entered the stage. I somehow suffered through Epica but when Sabaton entered the stage and the sounded the same I left right after Ghost Division. It's a shame. I really looked forward to this show.

    Amazing Show

by Kenny on 10/26/22Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

This was the last show of Sabaton’s US tour & it was obvious they were having a great time. They put on an awesome show & really used the screen in the background to their advantage. They even had a couple of costume changes. The relative intimacy of the venue lent itself to the show really well. The entire set was very high energy, the pit was amazing & everyone in it was really nice. Me & mine had a fantastic time. Would 100% recommend.

Great show, maybe a little too short

by Javier on 10/26/22Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

It started with the most incompetent staff I've seen in years. I had to wait 30 mins to get in. I missed the first song of the opening act. Sabaton was great, excellent sound, but 90 mins seemed too short. 2 hours would have been perfect.
