About

Ryan recently released his first stand-up special. The one-hour Netflix original Happy Face follows a wealth of television appearances and a non-stop headlining tour. Armed with the unique perspective of growing up in rural Idaho to become a favorite in the New York stand-up comedy scene, he's one-of-a-kind. He's been named one of Rolling Stone's Five Comics to Watch, and recent appearances include The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Conan, and opening spots for Jerry Seinfeld as well as Gad Elmaleh at Carnegie Hall. Ryan is endearing stand-up lovers, and his future is bright.

"One of the most reliably funny regulars at the Comedy Cellar, an observational comic who often riffs on the absurdity of his own wholesomeness."

-The New York Times

"It was fresh, poignant, and light-hearted without sacrificing depth."

- Forget The Box review of Ryan's show "Edgy, Boundary-Pushing Comedian" at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival

    Epic! Marvelous! Superb!

Brought the whole family out to see Ryan and it was a fantastic experience. His opener was good and he was (as always) amazing! I would see him again any time he came back into town.

Ryan Hamilton was hilarious from the beginning to the end. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. I definitely recommend catching him when he comes back to town! The opening guy was funny too!

    So funny!

by Awesome show! on 11/27/23Delta Center - Salt Lake City

Ryan Hamilton did a great job. He had everyone laughing. My dad came a long and wasn’t sure he would like it. He doesn’t usually like comedians but he was laughing too.

    Thanks Ryan, from Ryan

by Ryan on 11/22/23Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I was familiar with Ryan Hamilton but not to a great extent. Just a couple 3 to 4 minute YouTube videos. My wife and daughter and I had a good time. I enjoyed the new material, the old material, and the sometimes painful crowd work/audience participation. Very fun night!

    We laughed until we cried!

by Dawn on 11/22/23Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Ryan Hamilton was fabulous!! His dry wit and quiet approach to his subject matter is second to none. We loved how he weaved seamlessly in and out of his stories. Honestly my sides hurt from laughing.

We almost weren't able to breathe for laughing! The audience participation added a dynamic and hilarious variable to the night. His humor was able to be appreciated by teens and adults. Fantastic!

    Flat Out Funny!

by Scott A. on 11/21/23Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This was the second time that I have seen Ryan Hamilton live. It has been a few years since the last time, and he has only gotten better. Somehow, it almost seems like it would be harder to do clean comedy and still be so funny but Ryan Hamilton nails it! I hope that I get to see him every time that he does a show in Boise. Great night.

    Fantastic show

by Kate on 11/15/23Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

We had seen Ryan Hamilton's Netflix special, which is why we came, and we were not disappointed. He's been through a harrowing life experience since we'd last seen him on TV, and it has made his comedy a bit deeper, and the result was a show that made me laugh a LOT, but also get tears in my eyes in a couple of places. Hamilton now has more perspective about the pain and uncertainty of being human and growing older, and the result was a show that made me laugh AND cry. The best!!

Ryan Hamilton is a rock star!

by Travis on 11/13/23Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

So good! I saw him a year ago when he was at Cobb's and came again this time. I found myself crying laughing both times. After his bus accident his comedy has taken on an existential gravity that's almost Douglas Adams-esque (huge fan). It's still side splittingly hilarious but also you form this very intense bond with the comic that's talking very openly about very personal and hard topics (bones jutting out of himself and what to do about them), including PTSD after the incident and leaning on his mom and others to get through it all. His Hot Air Balloon/Gym membership mash-up at the end was hilarious precision clockwork. I'm sure it was well practiced but it felt like he was just doing it off the cuff. It's not til you get to the end that you're like, "Oh wow, I don't feel gross and like I need a shower and deep scrubbing of my soul"like I do after seeing other popular comics that are just gross and use shock and awe to force laughs. I would have felt fine bringing my 9 year old to the show and being exposed to the content. This in no way distracted from the comedy though. I liked that his openers were also more his style this time around.

    Great Fun!

by Jay Kay on 10/26/23Town Hall - New York

Ryan Hamilton did not disappoint!! We laughed, we cried laughing and would see Ryan again in a heartbeat! We left the theatre feeling blessed the bus didn’t take his life and very happy he lived to tell the tale.
