El-P and Killer Mike, two of the most distinctive and celebrated names in rap, might have seemed like an unlikely pairing on paper, but the duo subverted and pulverized all expectations with their critically lauded Run The Jewels collaborative LP. Tapping into the creative synergy they'd discovered in 2012 on Mike's R.A.P. Music album (produced by El-P) and El's Cancer 4 Cure album (featuring Mike), Run The Jewels cemented their musical alliance with a set of uncompromisingly raw, forward thinking hip-hop, garnering limitless critical accolades including the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, XXL, SPIN, New York Times, and many more.

I don't attend that many concerts but Run the Jewels was an absolute blast. While the show started an hour later that initially announced (first act started at 10 rather than 9), that didn't matter too much. Despot opened the show and his 30 minute set was fantastic. He interacted with the audience, joked about his long-awaited debut album and did a really good job to warm up the crowd. However, the second act, Ratking, failed to maintain that momentum. If you google the group Ratking, you'll get conflicting info. Are they are four man group? Three guys? Well, only two members of Ratking actually showed up on the stage. While the producer Sporting Life had some great beats, the vocalist Wiki just felt out of it. He didn't really perform with much energy and his lack of it, quickly drained the room. Thankfully though, once RTJ hit the stage, the energy returned and it was incredible. RTJ2 is one of the best albums of 2014 and Killer Mike and El-P delivered a fantastic show. They too interacted with the crowd and gave us more than we'd expect.
unbelievable show and atmosphere. These guys kill it everywhere they go
Run the Jewels put on an energe performance. Only downside was there's no A/C in the Masquerade and I could did without 3 hours of opening acts and the DJ spinning records to watch Run the Jewels do a 1 hour performance.
