About

El-P and Killer Mike, two of the most distinctive and celebrated names in rap, might have seemed like an unlikely pairing on paper, but the duo subverted and pulverized all expectations with their critically lauded Run The Jewels collaborative LP. Tapping into the creative synergy they'd discovered in 2012 on Mike's R.A.P. Music album (produced by El-P) and El's Cancer 4 Cure album (featuring Mike), Run The Jewels cemented their musical alliance with a set of uncompromisingly raw, forward thinking hip-hop, garnering limitless critical accolades including the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, XXL, SPIN, New York Times, and many more.

    More info is needed

    by C. W. on 9/10/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

The show itself is very good, the only reason why I didn't give it five stars is because ticketmaster didn't put it up as a 21 and over show so I drove from Ohio to Philadelphia... a six-hour drive with my godson only to realize at the gate that was a 21 and over show and he was not able to get in.

    Chevy Metal Fan

by Lulu T on 9/10/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

I really enjoyed the energy for the entire show. My hubby and I were fortunate to have front rail position for the show. I was only there to see Chevy Metal (big fan) and enjoyed experiencing RTJs for the first time as well. I have to say it was an interesting combo of music. You could tell some RTJ fans weren't happy with Chevy Metal in the mix. They were somewhat rude chanting for RTJs when Chevy Metal was playing their set - but Taylor knew how to respond (if you were there, you know what he did). I don't think most knew who he really was - a true rock star (drummer for Foo Fighters for those that didn't know) having fun with his cover band. And he didn't do any name dropping for the Foos, only referencing his early drumming years with Alanis Morissette. Stephen Perkins on drums was a real treat too (for you Jane's Addiction/Porno for Pyros fans). Great JA/PFP, Queen, Bowie & Van Halen set. Glad they made it to the east coast.

RTJ is GREAT! Franklin Music Hall Outside Stage IS NOT!

by Jay on 9/10/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

RTJ gave a great performance, however the sound system and audio capabilities of Franklin Music Hall's outside stage was not on par with what is expected of an elite concert venue. The audio was muffled and not crisp, which is especially disappointing considering the lyrical and diction elements of RTJ's hip/hop and rap. Great event by Goose Island Beer overall, $3 beers will remedy any disappointing sound issues.

    A great show, venue ehh

by Skimaskjesus on 4/28/18South Side Ballroom - Dallas

All the artist's were on point. The Venue sucks though. As said before get there early and close because you won't be able to see the performers the way the Venue was built. I can't speak for the bar or anything else. It gets tight know what you're getting into.

    Energetic, Engaged in Crowd

by Venomfly on 11/30/17South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Run the Jewels is very positively engaged with the crowd and very attentive and engage actively and have a lot of energy. I didn't like it as much as the first concert I've seen of them beut that's only because I like the second album better. There was a ton of a weed among hte crowd and it made me nauseous but other than that it was pretty cool, especially the giant fist and gun.

    RTJ was beast.

by Lxrch on 10/23/17South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Overall, this show was phenomenal. The Southside Ballroom is great and the sound system was more than up to par to handle the level of bass that filled the venue. Logistics of getting into the venue and navigating the general admission area, bar and restrooms was only impeded by the sheer size of the crowd. Denzel Curry opened the show with high energy and great production. His vocal delivery was rapid and incompetent at times but he held his own as the show opener. Danny Brown initially brought a different dynamic as his opening song was quite relaxed but halfway through his set he showed the crowd why he was not only opening for Run The Jewels but also why he was featured on their most recent album. His energetic performance and popular songs had the entire crowd in sync with him until the last note played. RTJ hit the stage as the main event and displayed a camaraderie between EL-P and Killer Mike that is overly apparent on their albums. The two artist fed off each other during the songs and in between, joking and talking to the crowd the whole time like we were all old friends. There was not a bad moment to the night other than when RTJ played "Hey Kids" and didn't invite Danny Brown back to the stage for an encore performance on his verse of the track. If you are a fan of lyrical artists and unique production it would be wise to give any of these acts a listen. Once you do it would be hard to stay away from their show. Unless you just don't like music.

    Rocking the house

by Joel707 on 10/18/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

One of the best rap groups today. Killer Mike and El-P are essentially what hip hop should sound like, and live up to. They opened with a great DJ, and couple of other lesser known rappers but once they got on stage, it was noting but hands in the air and crowds screaming. Sometimes you couldn't make out everything they were saying, but if you're a fan, it doesn't matter. I'll see this croup any day of the week.

by Vilhjalmsson on 7/25/17Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

This is a concert I'll tell my kids about! It was that damn good. There was so much energy in the crowd, and not to mention that the fact DJ Qbert and Flatbush Zombies opened up for them was amazing as well.
