It was everything we wanted. The hologram was amazing. The symphony back up added to the great songs. I would go to another hologram. Genesee is a beautiful venue. We love shows there.
One of the best concerts I have seen in a long time, to bring back a great singer and relive good times and music. I would recommend this concert to all my friends.
Loved hearing Roy’s voice and seeing his image. The 3D Hologram Show opens endless educational and entertainment possibilities. In the future, the audience should not be able to see through the image. Will be interesting to see a performer who dances or moves around. Would try this experience again.
Too short for the price of the ticket! There should have been more songs or cheaper pricing!
Why buy $100+ tickets to see the concert of someone who has been dead 30 years? Because today's hologram technology can bring the music to life! We had front row tickets, not only because Roy Orbison (the Big O of rock and roll) had great music, but because we wanted the hologram experience close up, from 20 feet away. The opening act was great, but when Roy Orbison rose from the stage, made eye contact with us, and began singing his greatest hits, we alternatively suspended belief and enjoyed a live concert with a 20+ piece band, and marveled at the realistic, 3D image in front of us. The guitar, microphone and the man looked authentic, and Roy interacted with the band, thanked the audience, and gave a great show. I look forward to comparable experienced with artists like Prince, Hendrix, Elvis, Sinatra, Janis, and whomever else can be brought to the stage!
This was a moving experience. I cannot possibly put into words how amazing this show is. I am fortunate to have seen it.
The show was amazing, like Roy was there!! I took my Mom who is a longtime fan and never got to see him live, the next best thing!!
Opening act wasn't what I expected, there was no mention in adds for the concert of an opening act. His type of music didn't fit the crowd where the average age I am sure would have averaged 60 plus. Don't get me wrong he could sing and play guitar but didn't care for his type music. The concert itself was OK with the full orchestra backing up Roy's signing but it lasted less than 1 hour and there were many more songs which could have been played. Can't upload any pictures because any use of your phone to take pictures or video was quickly stopped by the users.
Great Show. Just Like Roy Was Really There. AWESOME SHOW!!
We had the great pleasure of attending the “In Dreams: Roy Orbison Hologram Concert” on Saturday at the Chester Fritz in Grand Forks, ND. We have seen Roy Orbison twice, in person, on this same stage and this was just a wonderful tribute to such a great artist. I felt he was really there on stage! And the orchestra with him was simply beautiful!!
Amazing, I loved it! The entire show was excellent. It looked very real.
Pre-show very disappointing is the reason for four stars instead of five
If you love Roy Orbison’s music, this is a great way to hear it because the orchestra does an excellent job of back up to the recordings. Have to say the hologram is kinda hokey because of the limited video footage that is available to create it. Just not nearly the same experience as going to hear and see a live performance. We noted that the audience didn’t respond in the same way although the musicians and backup singers deserved recognition for a full hour of playing back to back songs.
I loved this show and would go a second and third time if it were brought back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exceptional show. Venue was world class. Orchestra, singers, all of the live performers were highest level. First hologram performance I've seen and it was beyond amazing. Spent a lot of money traveling from out of town specifically to see this and, based on this experience, would do it again without hesitation. Kudos to the Orbison family and the producers
The show was a technical masterpiece in almost every way....The hologram of Roy was extremely lifelike down to the fringe waving in the air on his jacket. The band and orchestra were both smoking hot in everyway. All of Roy's greatest hits were in the show and some lesser known material as well. The sound was very clear and well balanced but way too loud! I am a long time recording engineer so I know that loud volume levels are necessary to create excitement but this was excessive. The other issue was that the timing was off on Roy's guitar strums but overall it was an extremely entertaining evening if you bring your ear plugs along!
This was a collaborative work of great music, art and technology that resulted in a concert reflecting Roy Orbison’s talent and passion for music...his true essence.
The hologram of Roy Orbison was great, the 25-piece orchestra was outstanding, the sound was excellent and the lighting was perfectly-suited to this one-of-a-kind show. Roy obviously planned this long ago, since his movements were choreographed to not stray all over the stage, but stay in one place, except to turn around and thank the orchestra several times, strings on the left, brass on the right. In real life, of course, Roy rarely did any Elvis-like moves. The hologram was more real from the back of the theater because when I walked down to the front of the stage, I could see through Roy's body to the violinists behind him. But from the back, it looked like Roy in the flesh. Interesting entrance and exit: he appeared to rise from the stage via an elevator, and left in a POOF! of smoke, kind of like the TV show "Bewitched." Here's my big question: the orchestra was 50% of the excellence of this show, but how can you find a group that talented, if the show is going to be touring in the hinterlands of the U.S.?
It's a stunt. Kind of interesting. However, either the voice was not Roy's or was recorded and so distorted by the gain on the board, it was unlistenable. There was an orchestra and back up singers which should have added some interesting textures but got wiped out by the sound guy. I like the Wiltern as a venue but this show sucked.
