About

Roxette is a pop-rock duo hailing from Sweden, with Marie Fredriksson on vocals and Per Gessle on guitar and supporting vocals. Before Roxette, both Fredriksson and Gessle had established musical careers in their home country, until joining to record their first Swedish hit single,” Neverending Love.”
From the band's inception in 1986, they achieved international acclaim in the late ‘80s, thanks to Look Sharp!, their commercial breakthrough album. They have sold over 60 million records globally and received gold and platinum awards for their Joyride and Look Sharp! albums. Their greatest hits album was Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus, which was followed by a hiatus until 1999, when Have a Nice Day was released, followed by Room Service in 2001. After a 10-year break, Charm School was released in 2011, followed by Travelling in 2012.
Roxette have toured globally, with their 1991 worldwide tour going out to over 1.5 million fans across a challenging schedule of 107 concerts. They have also toured extensively throughout Europe and Latin America, where they have won Platinum awards, and featured at the Night of the Proms, as well as a number of international concerts. They have also received multiple awards, including the Grammys, MTV, Rock Music Awards and more. “Listen to Your Heart” and “It Must Have Been Love” have received BMI awards for notching up over four million plays on the radio.
They are notable for breaking the tricky US market almost by accident, when an American student bought a copy of Look Sharp! home in 1988 and passed it to a local radio station. Popular reception saw Roxette's music rapidly spread to other radio stations, and marked the start of their success on the international market. EMI released The Look in the US in 1989 and it went straight to No. 1 in the American charts, later topping the music charts in 25 countries. Other notable releases include Dressed for Success, Dangerous in 1989, and the hit “It Must Have Been Love,” which featured on the film Pretty Woman and was the band's most successful release, topping the charts globally and going platinum three times. Later releases include Crash! Boom! Bang! in 1994 and Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus in 1995. Have a Nice Day was released in 1999.

  • Roxette, 2 Great tastes that go great together.

So nice to have Marie and Per touring again! I am happy they came back to the states even though they have no record company sponsorship. Concert was a great combination of New and Classic Roxette.

16yrs ago, I missed their concert in Japan. I'm glad that they played in US this time. They sounded so well and it was worth it. I hope they return very soon.

  • Two hours of nonstop rocking awesome

Roxette know how to put on a great show. Two hours of nonstop rocking awesome. No fancy sets or costumes. Just good old fashioned high energy music. Per and Marie both sounded excellent. The set included almost all of their biggest hits. The only glaring omission was I Wish I Could Fly, and more songs from Charm School or Travelling. But every song they did play was a classic.

by Mayka27 on 9/3/12Beacon Theatre - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a fan since I was a little girl and now finally after over 20 years I saw them life in NYC. Definitely unforgettable! They played all the hits. Everybody was singing along and dancing. After the concert, they came out and they signed CD's, posters... Especially Marie was very nice.

  • Can't wait to see them

I'm excited to finally see them live. I've been a Roxette fan forever now. Love the Crash Boom Bang, Tourism and Joyride album. Wish they could come up with another album similar to Crash Boom Bang - songs with more guitar.

  • Roxette live! An experience you will never forget!

by JimRox on 4/16/12Multiple - MultipleRating: 5 out of 5

I have travelled from the US to Europe twice in last 10 years to see this amazing band and each time, it was WELL worth the excessive cost just to get there! Roxette concerts are something quite special... a place where thousands of dedicated fans of all ages and backgrounds come together for one of the most surreal and amazing nights of music, fun and entertainment you will likely ever experience in your lifetime! The first time I saw them was a quaint but amazing accoustic performance in Seattle in 1999 in front of about 200 people. Two years later, I was fortunate enough to see them in their home country... twice... each time in front of about 16,000 screaming fans! That was easily one of the most amazing experiences of my life, one I thought I may never equal... until 2011 arrived! After Marie's health problems, I figured we would never hear anything new from Roxette but especially never see them on stage again. Fact is, she had a 5% chance of surviving. Not only did she survive, but she amazingly has regained that amazing voice and re-learned the lyrics to all the songs you will hear in their concerts! This fact alone enhanced the two concerts I saw in Budapest and Prague in 2011, but the crowd electricity was so electric, especially in Prague... it probably rivalled if not exceeded the 2001 concerts in Sweden, something I never thought I would be saying! Now, Roxette is coming back to North America for a 2 week+ tour of the US and Canada. I'll be attending the shows in SF, LA, and Vancouver BC. Trust me when I tell you that you cannot go wrong in making the effort to see this band live! Even if you only remember or like a few of thier hits, you will no doubt have an amazing time. Well worth any amount spent, without a doubt!!!

  • Don't miss Roxette!

by Anonymous on 3/23/12Zitadelle - Berlin, GermanyRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a Roxette fan for 21 years and finally had the chance to see them live overseas last year. Don't miss this show if you can help it! It helps to know that the female singer, Marie Fredriksson, has recovered from a near-fatal brain tumor which affects her memory and balance, so she isn't able to move around the stage very well. Taking that into consideration, this show is 100% live and is really fun. Marie's voice is still fabulous and the male singer/guitarist, Per Gessle is full of contagious energy.
