    Expected more ...

by Boodad81 on 6/17/13Jo Long Theatre - San Antonio

Tom Browne was good and Ronnie Laws was less than spectular. Browne admitted early on that he didn't even know the band member names and referred to them by the instrument they played. As Bon Qui Qui woud say, "Rude!" Laws seems more preoccupied with the microphone on his saprano sax than actually playing ... he glared numerous times over at the sound guy seemingly taking no responsibility for a malfunction for which he was partly the cause. Show was a little short too ... one hour total. Big props to the band though ... they played great, especially the bass player. He is one funky cat!

    Seriously Smooth Jazz!

by EbonyRocker on 6/17/13Jo Long Theatre - San Antonio

Ronnie Laws was amazing! What an incredible musician. Tom Browne is constant musical motion bringing serious jazz & funk. His whole musical aura exudes jazz infused energy. He never stopped moving. Together they complimented each other as if they were playing with one mind. I'd definitely go and see these guys again. Bravo!

Performance outstanding. His talent and grace embraced us. Debra's voice is clear and she was charming. Karen Briggs was an added treat.

    Ronnie Laws Concert

by LaCuisine on 12/10/12Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

FABULOUS! Ronnie's performance brought back so many fond memories for me. It is not frequent these days to be able to hear a true veteran of the jazz world. To watch his performance with his sister Debbie and with Joey Somerville, just left me in total awe; to watch his movements, his compassion with his instruments.....I was dazzled. The band's performance and their physical presentation - "suits" for goodness sake! That was awesome! Don't want to leave out the bass guitarist - delicious!

Ronnie Laws who is one of the mosted skilled sax players alive was very dissapointing; he just dosn't play much and sometimes he plays so soft that you can't hear what he is playing. Really sad because he is so gifted and going to see him live was just fustrating because I listened through his entire concert and did not get to really hear him..

    Short and Sweet

    by HoneyB1959 on 1/23/12Birchmere - Alexandria

I really enjoyed the show. I had never seen Tom Browne nor Ronnie Laws and I was very satisfied. Although I was a little surprised that the show was only about 1 1/2 hours short. I know we are all getting a little older, but I was expecting at least a 2 hour show. I was also a little disappointed that there was no female singer to sing 'Jamaica Funk' but overall it was a cool show.

    Legends at Work!

by afkjlsdjfalksjdf on 1/22/12Birchmere - Alexandria

Vintage talent that I grew up on. Some of the best talent ever to play at the Birchmere. They were a joy to listen to and I would go again. I wish the concert would have lasted the full two hours. I would have listened to them all night.
