About

Rodney Atkins has been bringing Tennessee wisdom to country music lovers for the last decade. He is currently on tour to promote his fourth album, Take the Back Road, which promises to provide listeners with new things to think about as they move through life's journey. Atkins first attracted the attention of music producer Mike Curb in 1997. When his debut album, Honesty, finally did come out in 2002, the title track quickly rose to the top of the charts, hitting No. 4 on the country music charts and landing on Billboard's Top 100 within weeks. Since then, Atkins has released another three albums, all of which have quickly gained popularity.

Strengthened by his commitment to authenticity, his current concerts include new hits like "He's Mine," which is based on the contemplation of parenting a teenager. His songs demonstrate a commitment to family and other wholesome, traditional values. Atkins concerts tend to play before packed houses across the US that are ready to sing along to his simple lyrics and dance to his steady beats. He thrives on audience interaction and pays attention to his doting fans. At one recent concert, he made a star out of a five-year-old boy who wanted him to play "Watch Me" for his father in heaven, pulling him up on the stage and giving him guitar picks and a microphone to take home with him. It's no wonder that tickets to see Atkins are a hot commodity, and fans all over adore this honest country musician.

    Rodney Atkins with Julianne Hough

by DJRickH10 on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

This was my first time seeing Rodney in concert. I loved his sound, his voice and guitar playing! His band was very talented as well. From the moment he set foot on stage until he left he was connected with the audience and kept their attention & their spirits high. Outside of a great performance I really appreciated his sense of humor! All in all, he had a great recipe for a really good time. Made me feel as though I'd known him for a long time.

Rodney Atkins is straight up great music

by TheHeater on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

I saw Rodney Atkins last year when he opened for Brooks and Dunn at the White River Amphitheater. I had never heard him before. I really liked his straight ahead, no pretense, no artificial enhancements writing and music presentation. His band is extremely talented, and as a musician myself I key in on the band members. He does his shows the right way and introduces his band by name and where they are from, at the early part of his show. He has very talented musicians with him, including a fella from Seattle who can play multiple instruments. So the support music was fantastic. The only regret I have about his show is that it was only about an hour and 15 minutes long. However, he only has two albums released, so he does not have the volume of material that other main act artists have. I listen to rock, jazz, R&B and a little country. This is one of my favorite country performers. The opening act was Julianne Hough and she also had an excellent band and did a fantastic show.

Atkins was great. Hough was cute!

by GF73 on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

Julianne did a great job as the opening act. She sang her heart out. It's just that she is so new that few people knew her songs. But that will change, cause she is amazing!

    JULIANNE HOUGH WAS DISAPPOINTING

by Badshow on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

I am totally disappointed with the juliianne part of the performance. Rodney's part was much better. The sound system for Julianne's show was so DAMM LOUD that all you could hear was the durms and a woman screaming. I did not understand ONE WORD of any of her songs.i I feel her show was a total waste of my time and money. I hope that whoever is managing her sound systems get the message and tones it down a lot. She miight have a good show if it could be heard and understood .... !!!!!!!!!!

This concert was so enjoyable. Julianne Hough is amazing. She really moves and such a great voice. Can't say enough about Rodney Atkins. Such a good down home southern boy. His music is perfect. Too bad that sooo few tickets were sold. They deserved a larger audience.

    Fun @ The Puyallup!

by Spockette on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

Both Julianne and Rodney were great. Julianne was hard to hear at times...the music was too loud and overpowered her. However, she does have a very strong voice and is fun to watch and hear. She put on a good show. Rodney was a hoot! He puts on a good show with a lot of humor and good music. I didn't realize I knew so many of his songs! He's a great performer and I love his songs!

    Rodney Atkins

by Heim on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

Rodney Atkins was so much fun. The opening act was too loud with the band drowning out Julianne's lovely voice. Also, the three of us would have liked her to mix it up with some quiet pieces.

Rodney is excellent to listen to - very entertaining to watch - and is also very humorous! We got nothing but EXCELLENT nonstop listening out of him. If given the chance - I would have taken the whole family with me to watch and listen to him as an early Xmas gift.

Rodney Atkins put on a great show. He was so funny that I think he should do stand up. Had a great time, I would love to see him again. Julianne Hough was good, but I had a hard time understanding what she was singing. (but she is new to it so give her some time)

    Rodney was awesome!

by PuyallupDan on 9/16/09The Puyallup Fair and Events Center - Puyallup

Rodney came onto the stage from on an elevated platform behind the drummer singing "It's America". He spoke often to the crowd like a friend. He sang a couple of songs all by himself, sitting on a stool and playing his guitar. He really got the crowd going towards the end and also during the encore - singing "Going Through Hell". After the song ended, the lights came up and the band walked offstage. Except Rodney....he stayed and stayed and stayed - signing all kinds of things for the crowd gathered around. Hats, shirts, pictures, stuffed animals, drumsticks, etc. He strikes me as a guy you'd meet in a bar and have a beer with. I wish my neighbors were like him. Thanks for the great show, Rodney.
