loved the fray singing in the rain!!!

    by Hedder7 on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

The overall event was awesome the setup was great and the food choices were really good too.. All the bands were well worth paying for except ben folds. He didn't really fit in with the bands picked to play.. He cursed a lot! Talked about dirty things and told bad sex jokes with kids present. I don't have any respect for him as a musician and I hope he isn't asked back next year. His voice he tried singing with was awful. But the fray was well worth waiting for and being soaked in the rain for!

    Unbelievable Show!

    by rainedout1234 on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

Excellent show! All was going perfect until the rain started. No knock on the event though, they did everything they could to keep it going. I will be returning next year!

    Rain, Rain, DON'T go away

by doppledoodanger on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

This was one of the best concerts I have EVER been to. I think Ben Folds and the Fray really took the rain as a challenge to make their performance even better. I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. I mean, who can say that they saw the lead singer of the Fray or any band for the matter, hoola hoop on stage. I loved it! Good luck topping this event next year!

    Rock the Green

    by gr8chicagowonder on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

I thought the concert was absolutely wonderful! I heard Fitz and the Tantrums for the first and I thought they were excellent! And you can't ever go wrong with Ben Folds, or even the Fray. The only thing that I was disappointed about was the weather. Ben Folds had to improvise his set, and the Fray shortened their 90 min to about 35 or 40 minutes. But they played their best songs and a few new ones. So It was well worth it.

    Rock The Green

by TLgal on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

The weather was lousy- rainy, windy, chilly. Luckily, the music was great. We arrived near the end of Michelle Branch's set. She sounded good as we walked from the parking lot. Fitz and the Tantrums were excellent. Hope they return from California soon! Ben Folds was not appropriate for the family crowd. He used the F-word repeatedly and described sex acts rather crudely. One child about 8 years old playing with 2 younger boys near where we were sitting said "he swears a lot". So it wasn't as if the children attending did not notice. Then the Fray came on. By that time, the stage was soaked, an inch or more of water having accumulated. The remaining audience was drenched. The full band only held out for a handful of songs. BUT.... Isaac Slade was there for the audience. He played and played and played. All by himself on stage. And he was incredible. At one point he commented that this was a show he would never forget. I am certain that no one in the audience that braved the rain til the final second will ever forget it either, Isaac!!!

    Better rain contingencies next year

    by elevn11 on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

The food was good. The bands were great. The biggest disappointment was that the show touted "rain or shine." It started raining. Cold, windy rain, and the bands were having difficulty playing. Ben Folds mentioned that it was difficult to keep his fingers from sliding around on the piano keys and had to wipe down the piano several times. The Fray were a half hour late to start due to the Rock the Green crew scrambling to get some sort of rain cover for the stage, which was open and tall on three sides, and they only played for about 35 minutes as a complete band due to risk of electric shock from wet equipment. Very poor planning in regards to rain contingencies. Fortunately, Ben Folds and The Fray made up for this with their willingness to stick it out and play for those of us who didn't mind getting wet. I hope next year the Rock the Green crew plans for rain more accordingly, for the bands' sake in performing and for the fans' sake in listening to a full concert.

    Rain gear

by HMNIA on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

The overall event was outstanding and I didn't even mind the rain that joined the event in the later afternoon. I do, however, think that the stage should have been better prepared for the possibility of rain. I am a huge Ben Folds fan and I was very disappointed that he had to stop playing the piano at one point due to the weather. I did hang in there until the very end, and had a great time. I'll definitely be attending next year!

    Rock the Green Rocked!!!

by Anonymous on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

This was a great event!! Hope to see it return!! Parachute, The Fray and Fitz and the Tantrums were the best performances!! They really connected with the audience, literally and musically!! In fact, Will Anderson was running through the audience "hi-fiving" fans and Issac Slade was also shaking hands etc.!! The venue couldn't have been more beautiful!! Veterans Park is gorgeous-will not hesitate to return!!

    Great first run!

by KsMama on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

The weather was far from kind, but we can't hold that against Rock the Green. While the sets were short, the music was still great. The food was fantastic, and the farm to fork notations at each restaurant stop were a eco-friendly touch. I found myself only purchasing items that traveled under 100 miles. I also appreciated everyone using all of the recycle bins. It was nice to be at a festival on Milwaukee's lakefront and not see trash laying around! The pedal power booth didn't really provide as much information about what they were doing as I would've hoped. I would've loved to see more concert goers having the opportunity to sign up to peddle for a while, maybe for a discounted admission? I'd do that! The reusable water bottles was a great idea as well. The only suggestion I might have for improvement there might be to have more water stations available. I thought it interesting that there was only one water station and it was more than half way across the park from the stage... when there were three beer tents less than 50yds on every side of me.

ALL THE BANDS PUT ON A GOOD SHOW!!!!

    by concertlover7911 on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

I loved how everyone was handed a free water bottle when they walked in with unlimited refills. The food was pretty good with the exception of the buffalo chicken wrap. The bands were fun. I especially enjoyed: The Fray, Ben Folds, Parachute and Michelle Branch. The people working were very friendly. For next years event, it would be nice to have a second stage so there is a band playing the whole time, because there wasn't a lot to do in between bands. So, maybe there should be more interactive activities or something.

    Great music!!!!

by Mrsmar on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

I absolutely loved the music. I saw 4 of the 6 acts, Parachute, Fritz & the Tantrums, Michelle Branch, Ben Folds. I LOVED them all especially Ben Folds (except his adult only language, which would of been fine for not so "family" friendly event) More vendors would add more to see. It was good that you could hear the bands and walk around and see and eat....Nice. The Goodwill tent with the t-shirts was so clever. Food was really good. :P All in all great except mother nature failed us all that day. Maybe have it a week or two earlier for a Lakefront event. Loved also the lake vs kites. soooo pretty. Only bad thing, no seats except lawn which is fine for those who could get up and down from the ground.

    rock the green milwaukee

by foldsfans on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

5 stars would be given if it were not for the rain. In spite of the rain the performers gave all they could! The "Green" aspect of the concert was an awesome idea and one I'll support again. GO Green!

the fray didnt play all of their songs...weather was bad...a refund or discount is needed

Despite the rain, Rock the Green was a great show. I am guessing the questionable forecast kept many people from showing up, which was fine ,as we were able to get up close and personal! Ben Folds was absolutely hilarious. I am a HUGE fan of The Fray and was not disappointed. The rain was falling and they were getting soaked, but they played on. When it got too dangerous for the entire band to be out in the elements with all of their electronics, Isaac played a handful of songs himself. They did cut their set a little short, but it could have been much worse. I will certainly be purchasing a ticket next year!

Fitz and the Tantrums have got SOUL!

    Upclose and personal

by Strapper on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

Despite the not so ideal weather conditions the concert was very enjoyable and was a great opportunity to catch some acts that don't get to play in Milwaukee that often.

    LITTLE DISSAPPOINTED

by Bskw on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

Over all it was ok. Was disappointed when I found out the Christina Perri was not there, that was the reason I bought the tickets was to see her. the other bands except Ben folds were terrific. Ben Folds should have not been there as it was a family event and the language was terrible. I was also upset getting there and there was no place to sit except on the ground. When your ticket gives you a seat number and row you expect a place to sit . I have just had a knee replacement and could not sit anywhere and chairs were not allowed.

Isaac from The Fray entertains in rain!

by Nancynorris on 9/20/11Veterans Park - Milwaukee

The stage ruined the last two shows to their potential. The stage was not prepared for rain and winds off of Lake Michigan. If a tarp/wall was "up" on the east side of the stage - most of water problems ( piano damage ) would have been avoided. Ben Folds and The Fray were great with the situation! No Rock Star fits! Loved the shows anyway! A lot of ad lib from the artists! Way to stay professional and entertain the crowd standing in the rain!

Great, Venue, Great Line-up, Great Food, Great Cause. EVen a little rain couldn't ruin the day. Michelle Branch, Fitz & the Tantrums and Ben Folds put on quite a show.
