Great venue for this out of town group. They really enjoyed it, and we will take future groups there.
Arrived from Chicago around 2 p.m. Spent 3 hours on the main floor, 2nd floor and the museum gift shop till they closed. We needed to be in Pittsburgh so we were unable to return. With only 1/2 of the "Fame" covered we are looking forward to a return visit. I think what surprised us most was the spectrum of music covered. Unbelievable surprises around every corner. History, paraphernalia, interactive video, music, music, and more music. This place has it all! Icing on the cake is the building itself. Yes! Cleveland Rocks!
Are hold family enjoyed the trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We enjoyed the exbit on nthe Fifty Year of the Motown. A great time.
It was an adventure from the get go! The architecture of the building....the incredible gift shop and the awesome exhibits. You could roam around it all day and still not see everything! They have movie theaters throughout so when you get sick of walking you can take a break and still see something interesting. Don't miss the whole list of inductees....it is a movie that shows everyone who has been inducted...names dates and major contributions to rock and roll!!!! Check out who the featured artist is because they have two whole separate floors dedicated to them!! Very cool.
We enjoyed walking through but the "will call" was not posted and after standing in the ticket line found out it was at the "information" booth. Can't take your cameras in so you then have to wait in another line to check them at the coat check which is one level down from the main entry. Area was crowded. It would be nice if they printed a map of the areas instead of just writing what is on each level. I can't imagine on a really busy day how anyone can enjoy it as there are too many people there on a "normal" day. We did enjoy they exhibits we could see but I feel the $22 price per person was a little high. We will not go back for that price.
The exhibits were well made...The videos were good...Everything was good. There was only one problem: Not enough Led Zeppelin or Eagles things. All we saw of them was a clip in the "Inductee" movie. I mean you have Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and other classic rock bands. But if you have these classic bands you NEED Led Zeppelin and The Eagles. Overall, it was a 4 out of 5. Just those two exhibits would have made it a 5 if they were there.
What a great place! I would recommend everyone going to and experiencing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My husband and I spent almost 5 hours here, was not expecting to spend so long, however, so much to see! In addition to bands guitars and clothes you will see more personal items such as, report cards from school, artwork from childhood, and handwritten lyrics on notebook paper. Must go , must see!!
The Springsteen exhibit was the main reason for my trip and it was totally worth it. I was a little disappointed in the main exhibits, there wasn't alot of early Rock and Roll artists. I appreciate the need to show the roots of R&R, but so much soul and R&B. Very little early bands like Dion and the Belmonts, The Shirelles, the Dixie Cups. No Johnny Rivers, Del Shannon, etc.. Way too much Jimi Hendrix!!
It was great to see some of the actual contract, letters, and lyrics that the artists have written. Hearing the progression of Rock 'n' Roll was a great experience to share with the kids. The kids really enjoyed listening to the music.
There were allot of great exhibits, although it is a little unorganized. It seems like either someone is always in your way or your in someone else's way while trying to view the exhibits. There needs to be more of a structure to the way you can walk throught the exhibits. There are people coming from every direction which makes it crowded and a little chaotic. When I attended there was a Bruce Springsteen exhibit and it took up 2 of the 6 floors. Could not take picutres, and there wasn't enough dedicated to metal music.
Great place to visit. Would recommend checking it out when the travelling exhibit is one of your favoriite artists.
I loved seeing the original written lyrics of songs that I know very well, some from long ago.
With tickets purchased ahead of time, we had no idea we'd be at the RRHOF the day after Michael Jackson's passing. Our visit, then, seem almost a salute to his genius. With only 3-4 hours to absorb as much as possible, I felt as though I'd revisited so many moments of my own life, remembering where I was and what I was doing when a certain song or artist was popular. (And yes, I am one of millions who DO remember the sixties.) The salute to cities that created and inspired R&R history was especially informative, and I loved the Springsteen exhibit. The art and architecture was a pleasant surprise to me. Be sure to take the enclosed staircase down from the 5th floor so you can look out the window at Lake Erie. I need to return to see the things I missed.
Great seeing the event with my 44 year old daughter who filled in the music gap years for those I missed.
Didn't know what to expect about the museum. Got a room the night before up the block and looked the building during a walk. The whole thing is impressive. When we got there on Friday we couldn't belive the material that was contained inside. From original lyrics to clothing to instruments, is was awesome. Being fans of Bruce, I'm glad his exhibit finally got us to make the trip to Cleveland.
The oportunity to walk down memory lane with my wife celebrating our anniversary of 24yrs could have not been duplicated anywhere else. Music is truly the way to remember where you were when. Music enables you to relate to the special times that take your breath away. As it did thruout the Hall of Fame experience while holding her hand sharing memories.
Great exhibits, Rock and Roll playing all the time, places to put on headphones and dial up an old favorite... this was a fun playground for those who love rock and roll. It was especially enjoyable for the Mrs. and me... a couple of baby boomers. My daughters liked it, too. They were amazed at the exhibit that described how R&R was considered evil and a threat to the nation back in the early days.
Spent 5 hours and could have stayed longer. Displays of featured artists were well-done. Artifacts are rotated avery few months so there is always something new. If you travel to Cleveland, don't miss it!
We received a lot of help at the ticket counter. In the museum, we didn't understand that the videos which were very good were all free after the initial admission price had been paid. We learned this through listening to another guest question the museum staff. The museum store especially the record section was very good.
We thought this was a fun place to visit and very COOL! We enjoyed the museum most of all, but loved the rotating display on Bruce Springsteen. Recommend taking the time to view the movie "The Mystery Train" for a chronology of rock and roll. I thought I knew it's history well but the program highlighted areas I did not realize contributed to rock and roll.
