Roberto Carlos Live in Concert
Brazilian pop-rock trailblazer Roberto Carlos is known to many as "the King of Latin Music." With a career spanning more than half a century, Carlos has sold more than 140 million albums globally and is considered one of the most influential pop artists in Brazil and the world. With the help of co-writer and frequent collaborator Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos has written more than three dozen Top 10-charting singles.
Born to a lower middle-class family in 1941, Carlos began playing the guitar and piano as a child. At just 9 years old, he performed for the first time at a children's show broadcast by Rádio Cachoeiro, where he won first prize and became a regular performer.
As a teenager, Carlos moved to Rio de Janeiro and formed a band originally called the Snacks, which was later renamed the Sputniks. In the late '50s, Carlos went solo and performed bossa nova in the style of Brazilian singer João Gilberto. When his first full-length album, 1961's Louco Por Você (Crazy for You), failed to achieve commercial success, Carlos switched back to rock music.
As a pop/rock musician, Carlos drew influence from then-popular American and British acts such as Little Richard, Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles. He eventually became the face of "Jovem Guarda" (Young Guard), which started as a TV show hosted by Carlos but eventually became a catchphrase for a Brazilian musical movement influenced by the Western midcentury rock and roll wave. Carlos' 1964 album, É Proibido Fumar, especially exemplified this upbeat sound and style, also known in Brazil as iê-iê-iê ("yeah-yeah-yeah").
In the late '60s, Carlos began to pivot his artistry to specialize more in love songs. Along with close collaborator Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos penned now-famous hits such as "Detalhes," "Sua Estupidez," "Jesus Cristo," and "Debaixo dos Caracóis dos Seus Cabelos," earning him Grammy accolades and top chart placements in Latin America. Carlos' love songs became especially popular in neighboring Argentina, and by the '70s, he had become the best-selling Brazilian musician in history.
In 1988, Carlos won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance, plus several Latin Grammys in the early 2000s. In 2015, the Latin Recording Academy honored him with the prestigious Person of the Year award. In 2009, Carlos celebrated his 50th anniversary as a performer, touring through North and South America to honor the achievement alongside fans. More recently, Carlos released his 2018 Spanish-language album Amor Sin Límite, which featured duets with Jennifer Lopez ("Llegaste") and Alejandro Sanz ("Esa Mujer").
just loved, my wife and I had the best time. I wish was another show like that to watch.
It Was an a mazing shows i had a lot otra fun i can't wait For his Next concert
Although I am Brazilian, I had never seen RC play live and I must say, it was a great pleasure. I was also impressed by how the ushers worked the crowd to ensure everyone sat down and kept their iPads from filming the show and obstructing the view of those behind them.
Family oriented event, veru good experience. The arena os really great and infrastructure too
Everything about Robert Carlos and the concert was amazing. Basically, the whole concert was in Portuguese. He sang only one song in Spanish and one in Italian. Most of the audience was Spanish speaking, and the venue was in Las Vegas. Latin America loves Roberto Carlos, he is an icon. We still loved seeing him perform.
I highly recommend for folks to attend Roberto Carlos' concert. Mother and I enjoyed the music and to listen to all his famous songs was incredible. From the start of the concert until the end, we had a blast singing along and clapping to the music. Definitely, we will make it a point to attend his concert, again.
The show was great, classic RC at its best!! Unfortunately, there were a few adversities. The show was being taped for a DVD release so they had extra video equipment. There were cameras in front of some viewers and they kept shouting at the camera operator as if he was going to do something or even as if he could hear them. Had a lot of people upset with the foul language. Pretty sad! Promoters should have advised that those seats could have limited view due to the cameras. Also, RC is a BRAZILIAN singer, his native language is Portuguese. Although he sang in Spanish and Italian, his main repertoire is in Portuguese. Spanish speakers kept shouting for him to sing in Spanish. Very annoying!! Overall we had a great time! i recommend!
Roberto was amazing! His sings are lovely. He is a quality artist. Would pay to see him every time he comes here.
I thought the show was Great. The venue was very nice. I would go again if he returns.
Maravilloso! Bellisimo! Roberto Carlos still has all his charisma, sensuality and attractiveness.
nice place san jose university. not too big, you can see the artist very close,
I loved everything because I love Roberto Carlos! I was little bit disappointed because he hardly sang any of the songs in portuguese. I live in Hawaii and I went to San Jose specifically to see him and I wanted to hear him in portuguese. But it was amazing seeing and hearing how much the spanish people loved him!! It was fantastic!! Thank you!
Easy access to the venue. We didn't have to wait too long to enter. The show was phenomenal. He sang most of his hit songs. People sang with him many parts and screamed like crazy when he started songs we recognized. The only drawback: the saxophone/trumpet section too loud at times--they drowned Roberto Carlos' voice--we traveled 2 hours to get there and paid good money for our seats but couldn't hear his voice--FRUSTRATING!
While he sounded amazing and the band was truly spectacular, we were disappointed that he didn't sing or speak a single word of Portuguese. The entire show was in Spanish, and I know some of his Brasilian fans were hoping for his other songs.
He pleased the fans untill the end. His Voice found the sane
This is definitely a concert to take your other half to. Esas canciones romanticas lleguan al Corazon.
Enjoyed each one of his songs, he didn't let us down. Thanks for bringing him.
Roberto Carlos brought back memories of our youth. He is not the same singer at 73 than he was a couple of decades ago. However, he still has the charisma, tenderness and fans who follow him wherever he goes. My wife and I enjoyed his concert and his music and recommend his show to everybody.
I bought these tickets for my mom's birthday. She was born in Brazil. I was disappointed to find out he sang the whole show in Spanish. They really should let you know before hand whether it'll be in Spanish or Português. I would not have bought them if I knew.
I really loved the concert because I grew up listening to that music and I never thought I'd see him perform live at Roberto Carlos, the truth would go a second time
