Roberto Carlos Live in Concert
Brazilian pop-rock trailblazer Roberto Carlos is known to many as "the King of Latin Music." With a career spanning more than half a century, Carlos has sold more than 140 million albums globally and is considered one of the most influential pop artists in Brazil and the world. With the help of co-writer and frequent collaborator Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos has written more than three dozen Top 10-charting singles.
Born to a lower middle-class family in 1941, Carlos began playing the guitar and piano as a child. At just 9 years old, he performed for the first time at a children's show broadcast by Rádio Cachoeiro, where he won first prize and became a regular performer.
As a teenager, Carlos moved to Rio de Janeiro and formed a band originally called the Snacks, which was later renamed the Sputniks. In the late '50s, Carlos went solo and performed bossa nova in the style of Brazilian singer João Gilberto. When his first full-length album, 1961's Louco Por Você (Crazy for You), failed to achieve commercial success, Carlos switched back to rock music.
As a pop/rock musician, Carlos drew influence from then-popular American and British acts such as Little Richard, Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles. He eventually became the face of "Jovem Guarda" (Young Guard), which started as a TV show hosted by Carlos but eventually became a catchphrase for a Brazilian musical movement influenced by the Western midcentury rock and roll wave. Carlos' 1964 album, É Proibido Fumar, especially exemplified this upbeat sound and style, also known in Brazil as iê-iê-iê ("yeah-yeah-yeah").
In the late '60s, Carlos began to pivot his artistry to specialize more in love songs. Along with close collaborator Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos penned now-famous hits such as "Detalhes," "Sua Estupidez," "Jesus Cristo," and "Debaixo dos Caracóis dos Seus Cabelos," earning him Grammy accolades and top chart placements in Latin America. Carlos' love songs became especially popular in neighboring Argentina, and by the '70s, he had become the best-selling Brazilian musician in history.
In 1988, Carlos won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance, plus several Latin Grammys in the early 2000s. In 2015, the Latin Recording Academy honored him with the prestigious Person of the Year award. In 2009, Carlos celebrated his 50th anniversary as a performer, touring through North and South America to honor the achievement alongside fans. More recently, Carlos released his 2018 Spanish-language album Amor Sin Límite, which featured duets with Jennifer Lopez ("Llegaste") and Alejandro Sanz ("Esa Mujer").
Roberto Carlos was so amazing to the fans and the audience, and he seemed like he was having such a great time!He was very expressive with romantic song, either saying and english or Spanish. when the crowd got really singing loud singing same time.Roberto Carlos was enlightened . Overall it was a nice show, well organized and good sound. Unfortunately, Roberto Carlos is older and with fading voice. His show could have been better. He struggled with Portuguese and Spanish, he signs better in Portuguese. He has really nice songs in his repertoire and he sang some of them but not the ones many people expected him to sing.
music was loud and his voice is no the same. He still one of the best Brazilian singers.

It was the best show that Roberto ever performed! Great sound, loved the lights and the singer himself, was far from what I ever expected! Yet I would like to see him, singing less songs in Spanish! I will do it again one million tines!
Roberto Carlos was amazing. I don't even know how many songs he sang because they were so many. He never left the stage. He sang for over 2 1/2 hours. He sang hit after hit...people were singing along with him. After the final call he returned by audience request three more times to sing again. His orchestra, maestro and background singer were amazing also. And the light show was superb!
This was the best concert ever. Roberto Carlos mixed it up with both classics and a relatively new song. His voice still stellar even after all these years; his musicians were second to none. He sung the gamut and in Spanish, Portuguese and English from El Dia Que Me Quieras, Lady Laura to Ese Tipo Soy Yo, to Amigo and Finishing it off with JesusCristo. Concert was 2 hours long and it started on time... YEAHHHHH

After a successful career in Spanish, he sung in Portuguese. The little bit he sang for his Latino audience was in Portanol - horrible. What a waste of money and time
Singer is great and his performance exceeded my expectations. The concert's production was very good. I just wished I had more info about my seats. I chose orquestra best available. I would like to have known a minor detail about the row I was placed before hand.

Flawless. Robertao was enthusiastic and seemed to enjoy himself, songs were well chosen, mostly old songs, band was great, stage settings and lights were great. I wish he had sung more songs in Portuguese, especially "esse cara sou eu"...that was a shame. Other than that, no critique. He was great, it was wonderful.
The show was great, I was disappointed because he's Brazilian but was singing more in Spanish. Hated people getting up to buy drink, terrible. Was like a bar over there.
