Roberto Carlos Live in Concert
Brazilian pop-rock trailblazer Roberto Carlos is known to many as "the King of Latin Music." With a career spanning more than half a century, Carlos has sold more than 140 million albums globally and is considered one of the most influential pop artists in Brazil and the world. With the help of co-writer and frequent collaborator Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos has written more than three dozen Top 10-charting singles.
Born to a lower middle-class family in 1941, Carlos began playing the guitar and piano as a child. At just 9 years old, he performed for the first time at a children's show broadcast by Rádio Cachoeiro, where he won first prize and became a regular performer.
As a teenager, Carlos moved to Rio de Janeiro and formed a band originally called the Snacks, which was later renamed the Sputniks. In the late '50s, Carlos went solo and performed bossa nova in the style of Brazilian singer João Gilberto. When his first full-length album, 1961's Louco Por Você (Crazy for You), failed to achieve commercial success, Carlos switched back to rock music.
As a pop/rock musician, Carlos drew influence from then-popular American and British acts such as Little Richard, Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles. He eventually became the face of "Jovem Guarda" (Young Guard), which started as a TV show hosted by Carlos but eventually became a catchphrase for a Brazilian musical movement influenced by the Western midcentury rock and roll wave. Carlos' 1964 album, É Proibido Fumar, especially exemplified this upbeat sound and style, also known in Brazil as iê-iê-iê ("yeah-yeah-yeah").
In the late '60s, Carlos began to pivot his artistry to specialize more in love songs. Along with close collaborator Erasmo Carlos, Roberto Carlos penned now-famous hits such as "Detalhes," "Sua Estupidez," "Jesus Cristo," and "Debaixo dos Caracóis dos Seus Cabelos," earning him Grammy accolades and top chart placements in Latin America. Carlos' love songs became especially popular in neighboring Argentina, and by the '70s, he had become the best-selling Brazilian musician in history.
In 1988, Carlos won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance, plus several Latin Grammys in the early 2000s. In 2015, the Latin Recording Academy honored him with the prestigious Person of the Year award. In 2009, Carlos celebrated his 50th anniversary as a performer, touring through North and South America to honor the achievement alongside fans. More recently, Carlos released his 2018 Spanish-language album Amor Sin Límite, which featured duets with Jennifer Lopez ("Llegaste") and Alejandro Sanz ("Esa Mujer").
to me it was very touching!! words cannot describe the experience!!
We had so much fun. Beautiful venue, amazing orchestra and lighting, and Roberto is eternal.
Amazing!!!!! Can’t wait to go back! I highly recommend siting in the front.
The concert was absolutely amazing and a dream come true! My only regret is that there was no "Part 2" the next night!! I love Roberto Carlos even more than before, if that is even possible! The venue was nice, sound and lights were good, the staff at Constitution Hall were helpful in getting us to our seats. The only tiny snafu was that I was unable to find the parking garage for which I had purchased a ticket. There was plenty of street parking, which was free on a Sunday evening, so there was an easy solution.
Love the place and love the show !!!! Bach Center Theater has a beautiful view and sound, combined with the voice of Roberto Carlos made an incredible experience.
His songs are very beautiful and romantic and I don’t even speak Spanish or Portuguese language. The only negative- the concert supposed to start at 7 but started at 715. But he did with out stop 2 hours Love it!
They should have had big TV screens on each side of the stage. Didn't start on time. People came in late, and they walk around the isles during the entire concern; that was annoying. I love his music.
Roberto Carlos was excellent and his backup band is great. But there were some things that marred the performance. Taping of shows should not be allowed - it is disruptive to other audience members. The first couple of songs were too loud. There also seemed to be issues with lighting. We were in the center orchestra near the back and the lights would blind us so we couldnt see the stage. It was very agravating.
Roberto Carlos sings like always did. Amazing!!!! He sang in spanish and portuguese. House full!!!
It was a wonderful night. The public was so excited to stay seated that created trouble to DAR staff! It was the first time I saw his concert and I was amazed by his performance and care with the public. I would definitely see him and his musicians performing again.
Intimate, amazing orchestra, lighting and energy. Thank you Roberto for an amazing concert.
I enjoy Roberto Carlos show, everything was perfect lighting, sound, chorus the band the place Especially Roberto Carlos he was and still one of the great Singers in the world. LOVE IT👍❤️
One of the best concert , with only the best. Roberto Carlos
The staff at the Constitution Hall was so polite, very friendly, and on top of things. The concert itself was out of this world. Amazing singer who kept his audience going at all times.
Perfect production. Roberto in great shape given his 77th. Crowd (women) get crazy. Perhaps could be better balanced between songs in Portuguese x Spanish (towards less Spanish).
Roberto Carlos hasn't lost any charisma and still has that sweet voice that made him a legend of romantic music in Spanish and Portuguese. He performed most of his hits. Great 5 stars show.
I love Roberto Carlos and as usual he delivered an incredible performance! Very satisfied with memories for a lifetime ❤️
The guy was a amazing singer very about,my wife and got a great time Love it
Venue was beautiful and singer spectacular. Lovely evening
It was great.More that I expected. Last time I saw his concert was back on the70's and for my happinnes, same great voice, extraordinary music. The only thing I dessagree was the too bright light on the stage. You couldn't see the singer well. Over all very satisfied and happy.
