I have been in love with Roberta Flack and her music for over 40 years. I so looked forward to a beautiful evening under the stars in a new venue, and of course hearing another favorite in Peabo Bryson. What I got instead were three opening acts.... yes I did write 3 opening acts that took until 9:15 before the main acts began. Peabo rocked the house and was a tremendous talent and performer as I expected he would be.
Unfortunately, Roberta Flack was such a disappointment at 10:15 PM that my friend and I who both looked so forward to her concert left shortly after she began. She was tired, sick, someone indicated they thought she was high, but the main point is she could not sing, could not remember the words, and was a major disappointment. Especially since she repeated that she was in New Jersey and was not aware that the crowd was a Philly crowd. Very sad beyond measure. Please let her know she is still loved dearly as a great songstress but should stop performing.
The venue itself is a lovely amphitheater but the food service was terrible. Fish sandwiches with no condiments and precooked so they were tough and cold was beyond disgusting. The selections of wine and beer were also lower than low shelf.
