An accomplished actress, screenwriter, best-selling author and comedian, Rudner’s witty and elegant material has earned her national acclaim and awards. A frequent guest on both “Late Night with David Letterman” and “The Tonight Show” in the early ‘90s, Rudner also appeared often on HBO. Her first HBO special, “Rita Rudner’s One Night Stand,” was nominated for several awards, as was her English BBC television show which later appeared on A&E. In 2008, “Rita Rudner: Live From Las Vegas” was PBS’s first ever stand-up comedy special.
The classic female comedy genius. Nothing blue, everything funny. 'Why yes I was a danncer; I studied very hard, until the groin injury while doing the difficult arabesque adagio', 'after that he never talked to me again!'
90 minutes of laughter. Her subtle tone is deceiving. She is funnier than anyone I know. The sold-out audience wouldn't stop laughing. I think she is amazing. A must-see if she comes to your town. Better than Joan Rivers and Chelsea Handler put together!
Rita Rudner was outstanding! Her timing and her clean yet hilarious material makes her one of the greatest entertainers ever. The Balboa Theater in the Gaslamp is a cool theater to look at, but has some problems with an act like Rita's. First is the sound. There was an echo that made some of the words hard to understand. I've seen Rita before in Vegas and there was no such problem. She enunciates her words very clearly but it's hard to hear in the Balboa. The other problem is the seats themselves. We had seats on the front row of the balcony. Those have a little more leg room than the other balcony seats (we suffered once before with the regular seats). I'm 6' but my wife is 5'4" and we both had sore knees by the time the show was over. Physical Pain puts a damper on the best comedy. Avoid balcony seats. The more expensive Loge and other seats have PLENTY of leg room. Unfortunately, unless you are flush with cash, this means not going to all the Balboa shows you would like to. Sound was poor.
We laughed for 75 minutes. She is great. It was a greatshow. She did not tell any dirty jokes. Almost no obscenities, but still adult.
I had not heard much from Rita lately so I was a bit unsure if she would be as good as I remembered she used to be when she was around more. She was spectacularly funny, witty, and clever, it was an exceptional show for the money!
Rita Rudner delivered zippy comments for over an hour Wednesday night, touching on life in Las Vegas and her life with her husband, mother, daughter, and friends. Neither caustic nor profane, Rita poked jabs of humorous observation on all our foibles. To portray the extent of topless everything in Las Vegas, she observed that her home-city even supported a ballet but it, too, was topless. Many of her observation drew distinctions between how men and women view events and situations differently. Her husband complained that she had just spent $150, but she countered that because the item was originally priced at $300, she had just saved $150. At this rate, she and her husband will soon be millionaires. No long, convoluted stories, but laugh after laugh about life.
Rita is a very funny lady; would see her again and recommend her to others
Rita Rudner is a consummate professional...funny, disciplined, and too-good-to-be-true. She gives a clean, hilarious show about relationships between men and women, why women love shopping, the eccentricities of Las Vegas, and her own life. My friend and I laughed until our jaws ached! If you're in Vegas, go to Harrah's and see her show. Highly recommended.
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Rita's show. She was funny and genuine. She engaged the audience and kept everyone laughing the entire show. No foul language or "dark humor", just things we can all relate too, told in the funniest way. Awesome show!
Rita Rudner charmed and entertained a full house with her disarming but pointed humor. One little cuss, deftly but offhandledly hidden in a great punchline demonstrated that cursing has lost its power by overuse, but properly used, adds humor and surpise. Rita is a gem.
It was a great show; you can still go get a laugh with out cussing all the way through it.
Rita Rudner was just as we expected.....delightful. She came out on stage right on time, and kept us laughing for about 90 minutes. Her act was clean and without profanity. The men in our group enjoyed her just as much as the women. We go to Las Vegas frequently, but were happy we could see her perform so close to our home. The Stardust Event Center at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana was another story. We were JAMMED IN, forced to sit on chairs that should have been around a card table. Due to the large women on my husband's left, he and I shared a chair and a half. We took turns leaning forward to get air and stretch. This put a real damper on our enjoyment of the show, but Rita was not to blame at all. Her humor helped keep us sane until we were able to escape this miserable excuse for a "showroom".
This was the second time we saw Rita,and she was just as funny and enjoyable as the first time. We are going to Vegas in the fall and I would see her again.
Was such an enjoyable evening. Clean, funny, and she related so well to the audience. I had not realized that she was working in Las Vegas all this time, and would see her again in a minute! She entertained us for 90 minutes and the crowd around me laughed till we cried
Awsome show, great seats. She knows how to entertain the crowd. Highly recommend her show to all. Not one swear word.
I can't rememember when I have laughed so hard. She is the Red Skelton of humor. Even the everyday family events become cannon fodder for her wit. The very "best" of good family entertainment.
