Rita Coolidge still has a sweet sound

by Nastyboy2N on 12/17/12Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

always enjoy concerts at Penns Peak. It was an intimate setting between Rita and the audience. She sang her oldies and mixed in Christmas favorites. the band was a good mix and fit in well with the show.

Rita Coolidge can still put on a great show!

by Ritafan on 2/13/12The Seneca Allegany Events Center at Seneca Allegany Casino - Salamanca

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and Rita's friendly style. Was wonderful to hear her sing some of her old favorites, and she had a great backup group with her. Being around her age, we felt like we were with friends.

Rita still looks and sounds amazing

by KWD69 on 2/25/11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

Rita's voice is still so pure and earthy. Loved hearing her sing her greatest hits, loved the background stories and was inspired to get her latest jazz album.

    Rita Coolidge is a gem!

by JTJH on 2/23/11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

I much enjoyed the recent Rita Coolidge concert at the Mesa Arts Center. Ms. Coolidge has become a wonderful chantruese and, more than that, a terrific stylist. Her mild and warm personality were a large part of the entertainment factor. She makes the audience feel very welcome.

    Fair

by Gtamie on 2/22/11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

I was disappointed in Rita's performance. Her original beautiful voice is still there but she chose not to use it, instead she kept pulling her microphone away from her mouth such a beautiful talent wasted for whatever reason

    Time for Rita to retire

by chandlerlady on 2/22/11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

After looking forward to attending the Rita Coolidge concert we were very disappointed with the show. Although the musicians were very talented, and, obviously trying to cover for the bad singing, we could hardly wait for the show to end. Rita has lost her voice and delivered the show without enthusiam or enjoyment. She sang a lot of blues and jazz songs and only a few of her former hits. She appeared disoriented at times. At the end of the show she got a "courtesy" standing ovation but patrons were turning and leaving their seats before the house lights came on. I got the impression no one wanted to encourage any more singing. It's time to retire Rita. You no longer put on a good show and your voice is definitely a thing of the past. This was indeed a very sad show.

    Rita still has it

by Anonymous on 2/21/11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

We really enjoyed Rita Coolidge. The venue was great. Acoustics good, even though the sound man had a few problems in the beginning. Rita's backup group was first class. Piano and guitar were amazing.

    Rita, where have you gone.

by Recollections on 2/21/11Chandler Center for the Arts - Chandler

Had I closed my eyes through the entire concert, I would not have known who was singing. That is not the sound of the Rita Coolidge I remember. I understand that she is approaching 66 years of age, but I was dissapointed.

    Rita Coolidge never disappoints!

by CapperMountains on 12/21/10California Theatre of the Performing Arts - San Bernardino

The show was billed as the Rita Coolidge Christmas Concert, which included a group of young middle-school singers, who sounded lovely, both by themselves and singing with Rita. I enjoyed all of the music; however, I wish Rita could have sung a few more easy-on-the-ears songs from her classic "Out of the Blues" album or just more of any of the beautiful classic ballads she sings so beautifully.

    Rita was Fantastic

by Anonymous on 12/21/10California Theatre of the Performing Arts - San Bernardino

Great voice; nice selection of Christmas songs plus some of her hits. She has a great sense of humour, excellent facial expressions thereby adding humour to the show. Audiance was very appreciative. Local choir joined her for several songs including Amaqzing Grace in Cherokee.

    Still a knockout...

by PassionateTeacher on 12/21/10California Theatre of the Performing Arts - San Bernardino

I am 64 and I took my wife, 18 year old son and 15 year old daughter. My kids did not know who she was but enjoyed the Christmas themed show. I enjoyed hearing some of her old hits mixed with the Christmas songs and I greatly enjoyed the traditional Christian songs. Very nice quartet backed her up. Rita is still a stunning beauty and has a lovely voice. I enjoyed looking at her as much as hearing her.

Rita's voice just not the same

by BolivianMamacita on 12/23/09Avalon Theatre - Easton

Best part was singing her classics. Her voice does not hold and trembles at times. Musicians were very talented.

I loved the way she presented the Christmas carols. Little Drummer boy was amazing. I will always love 'You're Love Has Lifted Me Higher' & 'Close the Window, Calm the Light'
