The circus was great as ever!!!

    by wolflover7 on 9/23/15Moda Center - Portland

Going to the circus is a yearly outing for my wife and our two granddaughters. The show was excellent as usual. The pace is quick, the acts are superb, and the audience appeal is beyond compare. The only black mark for the day is the protesting outside the arena. I am amazed that so many people in our society have nothing better to do than lodge protests. It truly adds to the negative attitude which persists in our society today. If these people contributed something useful to our society instead of their useless protesting just think how productive our nation really could be!!! But, kudos to the performers!!! You are all great and we believe in you and what you stand for.

    "Amaze" was amazing!

by dauby on 9/23/15Moda Center - Portland

Took our 13 year old grandsons and they thoroughly enjoyed this show, as did my husband and myself. We were totally "Amazed" at the talent of the performers. They kept our attention and left us wanting to see more. We were a bit disappointed that there were not more animals performing.

    Something for Everyone

    by JMP3 on 9/23/15Moda Center - Portland

We took a group ranging from 80 to 8 to see the circus. It's one of those experiences that every child should have at least once. Everyone in our party enjoyed the show and it brought back great childhood memories of the circus' we had seen. Each person had their own favorite act, but they all agreed it was a fun time and a great memory we now share. Getting to explore the arena and meet the performers before the show was a great way to start. My daughter walked a tightrope,my son got to sit on one of the motorcycles and we all laughed at the antics of the clowns.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey was amazing!

by AnnMT on 9/23/15Moda Center - Portland

My grand-kids loved the show. I especially appreciated how the Moda Center (at least at the entrance we went in) handled the protesters and keeping the children away from it while we waited to enter. Kudos to the partnership between Moda Center and circus staff.

    Awesome time!

    by Brtty365 on 9/22/15Moda Center - Portland

I took my son for the first time ever to a circus to this show and he loved it! He had a lot of fun, his favorite part was the little dirt bikes in the cage. He thought that was awesome.

    average show

by mbonita on 9/22/15Moda Center - Portland

I used to go to this show when I was younger and really looked forward to taking my kids. They did not have a lot going on. There were only elephants, horses and some dogs for animals. No tigers, lions, monkeys etc from when I was a child. Also it seemed like they had more acts going on at the same time when I was little. Now its just one act at a time. Yes there was protesters outside about the elephants. And the ring man kept saying that they take care of there elephants. A little over the top. Yes there was some funny stuff and yes there were some things that didn't go right the first try. But I thought it was kinda boring. My kids enjoyed it and that is all that matters. Defiantly wasn't worth the price though.

    Fast moving; exciting!

by DebbieOreo on 9/22/15Moda Center - Portland

Very good show, we will be back; one thing, though, we bought a program and it doesn't make sense to us; why does the program show other acts that weren't in the show we attended? (Like tigers, etc.)

    Ringling Bros circus rocked!

by Masteroink on 9/22/15Moda Center - Portland

I took my granddaughter for her 9th birthday. She Loved it! Especially the elephants. The acrobats were pretty amazing too. The pre-show was probably her favorite. My only complaint and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the people getting up and down during the performance. When it started there were people still trying to find their seats and by being on the end our view was often blocked. It should be more like the theater and not allow so much coming and going!

    Disappointing

    by Keo13 on 9/22/15Moda Center - Portland

For the price of the tickets it's just not worth it. 5 minutes of elephants. The same song being sung over and over. It has cute moments but absolutely not worth the price. It's just not like the circus of the old days. 1 clown, that's it, and she was barely out there. Disappointing.

    Circus comes to Town!

    by LoTo3 on 9/22/15Moda Center - Portland

We had a great time. Loved the pre-show when we got to go down to the ring and were up close with the elephants. Well worth the money. Making memories with your family is what it is all about. So little these days where it is just plain good old fashion clear fun. Thanks Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey for coming to Portland! Come back soon! I have more grandkids to take to enjoy an adventure!

    Fast Paced Show

by storminwife on 9/21/15Moda Center - Portland

I have brought my grandchildren to the circus every year for the past 7. This year was one of the better shows. It seems more fast paced so the smaller kids didn't get bored. I liked that the clown interaction was enough to enjoy but not so much that it seemed to take away from the other acts. The ringmaster this year was good. All the adults in the group agreed that we thought this was better then years past. The acts were evenly distributed slow/fast/exciting/loud/quiet. The evening flew by. Performers were top notch. Thank you for coming to Portland, Or.

    Average to Poor

    by CougFan56 on 9/21/15Moda Center - Portland

Very excited to take my young daughter to her first Circus. Very disappointing as the animals were out very little and there was a bunch of time spent on items that didn't keep a youngsters attention, ie the crossbow guy and the strong man. I feel like they were not focused on the proper age of the audience. In reality, most parents go to see the joy in their child's face which I didn't see at all. Honestly I was very disappointed by not only the lack of entertainment but also the price of the tickets. When over half the seats aren't full and during down times you can hear children crying all over, I believe it is time to re-evaluate your show in general.

    Amazing

by MissesP on 9/20/15Moda Center - Portland

I took my 3 1/2 year old grandson. His. mommy came with us. My grandson's mouth was wide open and his eyes were bright and shiny the entire time. He didn't know what to look at next. He was awestruck. We asked him after the show what he thought. He said it was amazing!!!! I think that was the first time he used that word!

    Built to Un-Amaze

by Familyofartists on 9/18/15Moda Center - Portland

Not the greatest show on earth...not even close! In order to put a little context on this review, let me start by saying that I have loved the Ringling bro's for many years and have fond memories of going to the circus with my parents and now with my own children. I have spent many years of my life both as a supporter of the performing arts as well as an owner and promoter of live performing venues. In a nut shell this production billed as the greatest show on earth did not even come close to living up to its name. Gone are the three rings, that in my opinion majorly helped with the pacing of the show. Allowing the action to seamlessly flow from ring to ring with little interruption. They have been replaced with a single ring that seems almost clunky as they move from act to act. I heard that they may have eliminated the three rings in order to allow the audience to be closer to the action...? Well this brings me to my next issue with this particular rendition of the circus, where was all of the action? The circus is a place to be mesmerized by great performers both 2 legged and 4. The Flying trapeze has been replaced by a single woman on a swing and even the lion/tiger act has been replaced by a herd of poodles. This being said the dog act was the highlight of the night for my entire family, some of the most entertaining dog performers i have ever seen.. still not as cool as a lion though. All of this aside I think that this production would of been able to be salvaged if only they had a good clown act to tie it all together. Some of the most painful moments of this show were waiting for the clown duo to set up their jokes. I have always loved the clowns from Ringling and find them to be a crucial part of the show, both being great fillers between the other acts and exhibiting their great talents in the circus arts. This show has only two clowns in it and in my opinion their time on stage just added to the felling of the show dragging as they moved from act to act. All in all i think that if you have seen a circus in the past few years you have probably seen almost every act in this production, And I think that this is a major misstep of the production team over at Ringling. In a day in age where reality and virtual reality often run together, and amazing stunts are just a YouTube click away. The circus need to build bigger and brighter shows not smaller show. They need to continue to mesmerize us with things we have not seen before and inspire us by showing us a world where anything is possible. This show did just the opposite for my family they gave us a small show filled with things we had already seen in past years, making the statement that we have already done as much as we can so we will just keep recycling these old tired acts until people stop coming to see them. To the Circus' credit we did see this show from a box that we have at the Moda center and I would say that this show may be best if seen close up. Although most of the seats in this venue are some distance from the ring. The pre-show and interactive things for the kids was fun as always but also seemed very reminiscent of past years at the circus. This show Contained: Trained Dogs (very good) Elephants (only 2, with limited time in show) Trapeze (one woman on swing) 2 clowns Crossbow archer motorcycles in tiny metal cage (Cool but same as past shows) Horses and trick riders Motorcycle on high wire ( not as cool as it sounds) Uni-cycling basket ball team (good but kind of an odd venue for this) Strong man ( balanced on those small platform things again to small of an act for the venue) And I am sure there are things i am missing but they must not be memorable enough for me to recall. Now that i have torn this show apart let me also state that there was nothing in this entire production that i myself could of done. That is not saying much but i always would like to give credit where it is due and know that there is no way that i would be able to preform even the easiest of acts from last night performance. These performers are talented professionals that all have amassing skills but have all been placed in a second rate production.

    The circus was a hit!

by cem6995 on 9/11/15Baton Rouge River Center Arena - Baton Rouge

My son who is 5 yrs old LOVED the circus. We haven't been in years and even though there is only elephants, dogs, and horses in this circus, the performers were great! We really enjoyed ourselves.
