About

RICK SPRINGFIELD IN CONCERT:

Rock superstar Rick Springfield has been wooing audiences with his polished voice and leading-man looks ever since his rise to fame in the early '70s. More than four decades later, he looks and sounds as good as ever, treating fans to an unforgettable evening of solo performance and storytelling on his Stripped Down tour. Taking time between each song to relay the touching and humorous stories that inspired them, Springfield has proven that his talents as an entertainer extend well beyond his musical abilities. Whether fans catch him solo or performing with a full band, they can count on plenty of showmanship and charisma as he works his way through nostalgic hits like "Jesse's Girl" and "Don't Talk to Strangers."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Australian-born Rick Springfield began playing the guitar at age 13, cutting his teeth in several bands in England after his army officer father relocated the family there in 1958. After a stint fronting the British band Zoot in the late '60s, Springfield launched his solo career in 1971 with debut single "Speak to the Sky," a Top 10 hit in his native Australia. After releasing several moderately successful albums in the '70s, Springfield hit his stride in 1981 with Working Class Dog, a massive success propelled by the No. 1 hit "Jesse's Girl." 1982's My Success Hasn't Spoiled Yet fared similarly, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawning several more hit singles. A veteran showman with four decades of touring under his belt, Springfield returns to the road once again for a string of highly anticipated tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Loved the more intimate setting of just Rick, loved the stories mixed in with the songs."

"Rick sounds great! He tells the stories behind the songs. So fun!"

"Not only was his music incredible, but his stories and humor made the evening a blast for our group of six!"

I couldn't believe Rick! He was the best I've ever seen him, and I've seen him many times! Hope he's not on drugs! LOL 60 years old and looked and acted like 30! Honest to God, the best time I've had in a long time. It was so much fun!

    Pretty hot for almost 60...

by metsky on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

Even though he had some issues with his guitars (or prehaps his guitar guy), he was super-fun and really got the crowd going. I'm sure the events staff was going pretty crazy with him walking through the audience on the seats and seat backs; but it was really entertaining! The young drummer he brought on was pretty amazing and the cute little girls were a nice touch. All in all...a blast (and him taking his shirt off wasn't so bad either!!!)!

    Rick Springfield was AWESOME

by Grandmother on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

What a great show - my granddaughter (16) and her friend did not know who Rick Springfield was when I took them to the show - They loved him - couldn't believe that he was going to be 60. They can't wait to buy his new album. He truly gave his fans a show - did not stop moving or singing for the 90 minutes. My daughter had been to the Duran Duran concert the night before and she thought Rick was much better. I have seen alot of concerts and was totally impressed with the engery and how comfortable (Even though no one sat for 90 minutes at all) he made the show. Just a great entertainer and I truly appreciated it. Thanks

    Rick Springfield rocked OC!

by OCmusicfan on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

From the moment he took the stage, Rick Springfiled was full of energy, singing his heart out to the very receptive audience (who sang right back to him!)...he ventured out into the crowd several times, too, providing an intimacy not often seen these days. His new songs sounded amazing, his cover of "Jet" made me smile, his hits brought back happy memories, the sing along of "Don't Talk to Strangers" had everyone in full voice, and just the first couple of notes of "Jessie's Girl" caused the crowd to erupt with cheers. Guitar smashing, flower petal flying, sparkly footwear, endless energy....great voice, great songs, great entertainment from someone who obviously loves his audience and loves to perform. A FUN time for sure!

Rick was ON LAST NIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by FANMJ on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

Great show. Good mix of new and old songs. He was in amazing shape both vocally and physical. For a guy almost 60 he jumped around the stage like he was 30 again. Worked the crowd into a frenzy and the women of all ages went crazy. I saw him many years ago and he is still one of the best showman out there !!!!! Tight back up band and everyone was a PRO!!! See him again anytime.

    Rick still rocks!

by monx327 on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

OMG! Last night's show was incredible. I can't believe Rick Springfield is going to be 60 soon. He still rocks harder than a lot of the young "upstarts". This "Jesse's girl" was more than satisfied with his performance. A total steal at $22.50.

    Rick Rocks

by GHfan on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

Rick Springfield rocked the OC!!! While show started late and there were a few "technical difficulties", overall Rick rocked. His use of audience participation was great and for a man turning 60, all I can say is if that's what 60 looks like, bring it on!

by lolapalooza on 7/13/09The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa Mesa

The show was so much fun and Rick knows how to work a crowd! Looked like he was having a good time as always. Saw him last year in Cerritos and he was great then! I also almost walked right into him in a restaurant in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood at the Strip (Steakhouse) Lucky encounter. Very talented...hope to hear his stuff again on the radioi and more on satelitte!
