    Richard Ashcroft Forever!

by Poulson on 4/4/17Spreckels Theatre - San Diego

The show was awesome. I've seen Ashcroft several times live in this was one of his best performances that I have seen. I cannot believe there was an empty seat there. It appeared the theater was half full. Either the record company did no promotion for the show or American Music listeners are completely out of touch with what good music is. Ashcroft was obviously pissed off about the attendance at this concert. I however traveled over 1000 miles to see the show and was not disappointed. Thank you Richard Ashcroft for coming to the States.

Still the best voice in rock

by Zeeeeeeeee on 4/3/17House of Blues Boston - Boston

RA could have mailed this one in playing to less than capacity, but performed as though it were his last show. There seemed to be an anger fueling this performance. At one point, claiming he could sell more records from the back of a van than his current american label, and he's right. I dont see that RA would ever be as big as the Verve was (or could have been), but he needs to be heard more in the States. In any event, his voice sounds great and he nailed this performance!

He has a unique voice of a Johnny Cash rocker and can still have a smooth silky voice of Marvin Gaye.

    Music Is Power

by MRyan6692 on 4/1/17House of Blues Boston - Boston

I was a "Lucky Man" last night as I got to witness some "Northern Soul" at the House of Blues Boston last night. Richard and his band were brilliant offering up two hours of "Urban Hymns" and the occasional "Sonnet" proving once again that "Music Is Power". We learned that the "Science of Silence" is filled with love and rage and "This Is How It Feels" when "The Drugs Don't Work". Richard was even able to play "New York" in Boston and nobody cared (he must not be aware of the rivalry). I was "Out Of My Body" by the time they ended the night with "Bitter Sweet Symphony".

Richard and the Roots did a good job, but the sound systems of Bowery are quite crappy.

One of the best concerts I'm ever been to!

by JoJoFrFr on 3/27/11Villa Victoria Center for the Arts - Boston

Solo acoustic set. Just all gold coming out of Ashcroft. He played a lot of Urban hymns, some Northern Soul and some solo stuff. I was never a big fan of his solo stuff until i heard it directly from him. I feel like I rediscovered someone who has been a favorite of mine for 15 years.

Perhaps the most surreal concert experience I've ever had. This was not our first time seeing Richard Ashcroft...he opened for Coldplay several years ago and we also saw him at Coachella when The Verve was touring again. Each time was wonderful, but the context of seeing him without a band, just a guitar, in an old church with only maybe ~250 other people was incredible.

Richard Ashcroft was at his best in Boston

by Speeding on 3/26/11Villa Victoria Center for the Arts - Boston

What a show and a great venue to see a show! Richard had a new setlist for this night as a number of changes were made from the NY show the night before. If you have the chance to see him don't miss out as he is a true legend.

    Richard Ashcroft is a God

by maxxnyc on 3/26/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The last time I saw RA was with the Verve three years ago in nyc to promote Forth. That was an amazing show. I never saw him solo with his new band so I was excited. The Bowery Ballroom was an intimate setting which was great. He played Lucky Man and On A Beach and new songs frpom his upcoming CD. It was an unbelievable show.

Mostly new tunes, but good show

by KGG15 on 3/25/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Rich stuck to mostly newer tunes from his United Nations of Sound album, as well as other solo stuff, but if you are a fan, then it was an enjoyable show. If you wanted to hear mostly older Verve tunes, I could see someone being disappointed (this was his only show that I have seen where he didn't play Bittersweet Symphony). Some highlights were a live version of Lonely Soul that was awesome, Check the Meaning, and of course the well-known stuff he did play (Lucky Man, Sonnet, and even though I do not like the song, On A Beach).

The man still has it. Very few performers around who are as charismatic. Great live band/sound. Like the new sound/album, however not as much as his first(classic)
