Regina Carter is Like Heaven for the Senses

by Onyxsky29 on 4/25/11Jo Long Theatre - San Antonio

The show was absolutely wonderful! I saw Regina Carter in concert years ago after her debut album and was amazed at her intensity. She's only gotten better over time and remains my all-time favorite jazz artist.

    Elegant World Music

by Elefante on 4/25/11Jo Long Theatre - San Antonio

Regina was fantastic, her band was downright amazing, got the accordion, standup bass, drums, kora (African Harp), and, of course, the violin. Pro: Great show, talented musicians, eclectic and varied songs... Cons: No encore, set list seemed short and songs were long with rotating solos on most of them.

by elsiemscharff on 5/26/10Jazz Alley - Seattle

So,when I learned that she is a MacArthur genius award recipient, everything became clear. She brings to the fore music of every possible culture, African, South American,Cajun and even Bluegrass to create a magical evening of music. I was, quite simply, entranced!

    Regina Carter...Regina Carter...Regina Carter

by LaJuez on 10/5/09Pepperdine University - Malibu

Regina Carter played at the Smothers Auditorium at Pepperdine in Malibu on Sunday night and as always, her performance was magical. In addition to her superb violin, her quintent consisted of an accordian, percussion, standup bass, and another instrument I had never seen or heard before that kind of looked like a standup sitar and sounded a little like a harp. The quintet took the audience on a musical odyssey that touched our collective spirits and took us to places within our imaginations that made you feel like you had just been around the wrold.
