This is my 2nd RWB. For 2017 RWB, I had 3-day VIP passes; this year I chose Sunday only, lower arena, row J section 31 (great seats purchased 7 days ahead of the show).
I was less enthused by the line-up this year compared to last year -- the supporting warm-up acts were solid; I am just not a huge fan of Keith, Paisley or Young (music is like food -- people's taste varies widely). I will check out next year's line-up and the next...
I prefer Legends Field vibe, however I can appreciate the reduced ticket prices by switching venues to Rupp, too .... so for me, that evens out. I would prefer to pay a little more for an outdoor venue; most people would not bc "it's muggy/hot/sticky outside, and high pollen count, and OMG what if it rains ..." I am not a whiny infant so none of that is a consideration; possibly artists and sound techs have to work harder at outdoor venues?!?!
All I am saying is that seeing Luke Bryan & Brett Eldredge totally KILL it in the rain last year on Friday night was fantastic ( I am not an LB fan so "fantastic" is quite the accolade). Dustin Lynch, William Michael Morgan, Blake and KY's own Carly Pearce playing against a pinky orange sunset was a perfect evening (and my 12-year old niece's first concert). Sam Hunt on Saturday -- all told, last year's line-up was ridiculous, and likely impossible to beat.
That being said, for #RWB2018 we caught Campbell, Farr, Murphy & Combs Sunday at Rupp, all of which were great! David Lee Murphy was AMAZING -- I saw him for the first time at Acoustic Jam 2018 this summer; he's the reason I bought tickets to RWB this year. I am wowed by this guy. Bring DLM back as many times as he will return to play here, please, lol. He's a great performer, be it just him and his acoustic guitar or a full band backing him up. Also, thanks for having the big projection screens running - our seats were awesome but it's really nice for those sitting higher up and/or further back from the stage.
Looking forward to #RWB2019,
