Red Hot Chilli Peppers on Tour

To many, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are more than just a Los Angeles rock band from the '80s -- they're musical pioneers who took the world by storm with their eclectic blend of funky, alternative punk rock laced with hip-hop that sounded unlike anything anyone had heard before. The band first formed in Los Angeles in 1983 and quickly gained a following large enough to sell 300,000 copies of their debut self-titled album. Over the next few years, the band experimented with different musical genres and went through lineup changes, proving themselves to be one of the most innovative and resilient rock groups in recent history. In 2022, the Grammy-winning band released Unlimited Love -- their 12th studio album and first one with original guitarist John Frusciante since 2006's Stadium Arcadium. Celebrating the release of the new album, the band hit the road for a global tour featuring all four original members -- vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and Frusciante.  Be sure to see this legendary ensemble back in action performing classic hits and new songs by grabbing tickets to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in a city near you today.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers Live in Concert

In 1987, Red Hot Chili Peppers were named Band of the Year by LA Weekly, but the band really hit their stride with their fourth album, 1989's Mother's Milk, which cracked the Billboard 200 and went gold a year later. The RHCP had earned worldwide recognition by the time they dropped Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991). The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and the album's first single, "Give It Away," took off like wildfire, soaring to the top of the charts and eventually winning the band a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal in 1993. The album also featured the single "Under the Bridge," which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 -- their highest-charting single to date. To promote what some might call the Red Hot Chili Peppers' magnum opus, 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, three of the era's biggest bands -- Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam -- joined the Blood Sugar Sex Magik tour as opening acts. Whenever it was time for the headlining set to come on, seeing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in concert would always feel like an invigorating burst of energy for all the people packed into sold-out stadiums. Their funk-rap breakdowns, animated stage presence, and minimal clothing attire offered relief from the brooding grunge of the punk-metal status quo. All in all, Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a tremendous commercial success, selling 12 million copies to date, cinching the #186 position on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 500 Albums of All Time, and winning three out of the seven MTV Music Award nominations it received.

The band made the Rolling Stone Top 500 list a second time with Californication (1999), their seventh studio album and most successful yet with 16 million copies sold. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers supported the album on tour for two consecutive years at sold-out venues across the world. The album lit a californi-craze for the RHCP that has burned steady since. The first live album, recorded during a 2004 Red Hot Chilli Pepper concert in Hyde Park, was the No. 1 event of the year on Billboard's Top Concert Boxscores with a record-breaking number of 258,000 fans and a total of over $17 million in tickets sold in the span of three nights.

Since then, they've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2012), released a handful of more albums: 2006's Stadium Arcadium, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200; 2011's I'm With You, which hit No. 2; and 2016's The Getaway, which also peaked at No. 2.

by Vettiloveskiedis on 8/27/11Club Nokia - Los Angeles

It was sooo amaaaazing. The lights and the music were incredible and I love how they love what they do and get into it. It was crazy 2 see sooo many different people love RHCP. You can't really look at someone and say "they don't look like they listen to RHCp" becuz there were soo many different ages of people, races, style, shapes, just so different but the one thing we all had in common was that we LOVE the Red Hots!!!!!! it was amazing to be in a small venue with a bunch of people enjoying the same music and sharing a good time. I definitely wanna save up money so I can go down to the pit and be closer... I'd dieee!!!!!!

This was an EPIC PERFORMANCE seeing the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS @ Club Nokia was a special treat. It's one of those shows you will never forget, true performers at work and now several days after the concert it's still settling in and playing over in my head. I've been to hundreds of concerts in the last 39 years ( ELP 1972 ) and there has been only several bands that are intoxicating to watch LIVE and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS are rare this show is now in my top 5 all time concerts concerts.

Perfect Venue for the perfect band!

by GHernandez on 8/26/11Club Nokia - Los Angeles

I sat in the balcony, right in the middle. The view was great and I like tha fact that I could sit down when I wanted. The venue is small which I liked because the sound and view were awesome. The security was good, they gave me my space and were available if I needed them. Drinks were sold inside the club which was helpful.

Red Hot Sexfunk Live From Heaven

by jjbecker on 8/26/11Club Nokia - Los Angeles

After 28 years the Chilis sound better than ever. New material from "I'm With You" fit perfectly with older cuts from "By The Way," "Californication" and even "Blood Sugar Sex Magik." Flea's bass tone sounded great in the balcony as the acoustics in Club Nokia are first-rate. Josh stuck to his minimalist approach and Anthony's dominant stage presence made it a night I won't soon forget.

    Luke Warm Chili Peppers......

by silverpaddy75 on 8/26/11Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Was really excited having managed to get two tickets for RHCP's in a small venue In the bands hometown, as part of our holiday trip.... Venue, was pretty nice, once you got in!, through Metal detectors and about six security checks, I understand the need for security in this day and age, but at a rock concert,?? it's hardly the same as flying, or attending a political convention, we are looking to go and enjoy ourselves at a rock concert, god forbid someone might shout or step out of line!, Rock n Roll eh?! anyway..... The band came on and started with some new material which is obvious given a new record is about to be released. about 5 songs in however it was fairly obvious, to me anyway, that the crowd wasn't going to be getting what it thought..... I have been to about 6 RHCP concerts over the years since the early 90's and when the band have been promoting various records, some better than others, so I get the whole approach, what i didn't get though was why the band seemed so intent in avoiding EVERY hit in their back catalogue!, avoiding every song that made them the name they are today...... Its the bands prerogative to play whatever they want, especially at a "benefit concert" but when when you become famous for creating some great songs why not give the crowd what they want or at least intersperse you own indulgence with some of these HITS, its not a bad thing to play your HITS, play them while you can not in twenty years time like so many faded lights of days gone by do, when you are in your 70's and can't even sing or hold a beat anymore there is no point..... Im sure many will disagree and say, they were great and it was so cool and vibey, but I disagree, the biggest cheers of the night were for songs like By the way, californication, and sir Physco sexy.....these not even being the strongest tracks on their respective albums imo...., the new material was flat, and Josh seems like a spectator at the moment, so hopefully that will change as time goes on..... The final song, normally played a few numbers into a gig, GIVE IT AWAY, just sent me home frustrated, seeing a glimpse of what I hoped for......

RHCP was better than the venue and crowd

by musikdude on 8/26/11Club Nokia - Los Angeles

GREAT to see the team in action but....... • sound was awful; does anyone consider mixing mids and highs???? I was in the rear of the pit and some songs were barely recognizable. Did anyone do a sound check? • reserved music fans in LA did way too much staring and head bouncing and not enough dancing. very introspective benefit crowd for the right reasons (people with money) that did not rock out

RHCP was worth the ticket price!

by JReiss on 8/26/11Club Nokia - Los Angeles

Going into the show, with the expensive ticket price and never being to Nokia Theater I was unsure about the show. I was extremely, pleasantly surprised from the second I walked in. SICK venue -- clean, great standing positions everywhere and once the RHCP's came on, it was the best 2 hours. The energy and heart that is put into every song is very noticeable and that this was for the kids of the Silverlake School -- touching! Great show, Great benefit, Great audience, GREAT BAND!!!
