    Severely disappointed

by James M on 1/23/24Blue Ocean Music Hall - Salisbury

I know this band does wonderful things for local charities, and I applaud them for that. I had seen them on America's Got Talent years ago and was excited to see that same display of ingenuity live on stage. Unfortunately, what we see on TV isn't even close to what we got in the live show. First, there was no drumming on "recycled objects". The drumming (which is exceptional) was done on normal drum kits, with a facade of sheet metal and such to make them look "recycled"from a junkyard. There were no oil drums, buckets, ladders or other non-drum looking items used in their show for drumming. This was very disappointing as that was more or less their trademark from the shows I saw on TV. Second, much of the show didn't feature drumming as the focus. There were terrible juvenile skits done that may be hilarious to someone younger than a teenager, but for the adults at the show it just fell flat and became annoying. A skit with toilet humor is not needed at a rock concert. The female dancers added were a nice touch and gave people something else to look at besides grown men trying to act as silly as possible in goofy outfits. One act was dedicated to the guys dressing up like Beyonce in high heels and unitards to perform "Single Ladies". Hilarious to a 6 year old, quite nonsense to most of the crowd. On TV appearances, you got the impression that this was purely a classic rock band, playing songs from Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple for example. The show we saw featured some Elvis at the start, a nice set dedicated to The Beatles, and a few rock songs at the end, but for the most part was full of today's modern music - which one of the members even declared as garbage music partway through the show. Then why are you playing it? Most of the music was prerecorded, with the guys drumming along to the backing track. The guitarist did an exceptional job, but again, the focus of the show was supposed to be the PERCUSSION, and there just was not enough of it. The one area of innovation that I initially found entertaining was the bit with the Toybox, featuring toys from the 70's and 80's. That was a neat nostalgia-fest seeing them create different sounds from the toys, until you could clearly see that it was prerecorded. There were some missed cues where you could hear the sound before you saw the artist perform the action to cause it. I applaud the innovation, but the overall effect was lacking after the secret was revealed. They did an act with blenders and colored water as well. While initially impressive, I now have to question if the sound was prerecorded on that as well. Again, I appreciate this band and all they have done and will continue to do for local charities. They have an amazing talent that they need to showcase more in their shows and not rely on cheap tricks and potty humor to draw a crowd. If they have become a entertainment act for kids, that's fine, but they should be advertised that way. Best of luck to them going forward.

Justin and his fabulous band members and dancers were so much fun to watch. It was an amazing experience which left us feeling so good, so happy and so touched all at the same time. Wonderful experience -- and I wouldn't change a thing!

    Absolutely the Worst

by RogueRN on 1/23/24Blue Ocean Music Hall - Salisbury

I looked up this group on YouTube, and they had some amazing shows back in the day.. They are now washed up. I was disappointed and embarrassed that I took my wife to see them on date night. The venue was less than remarkable... We got balcony seats, row 2. What a joke. The balcony was a wheelchair ramp up 2 feet, and that was it. No "balcony"that I have ever seen... I will never return to an event at this location or see Recycled Percussion again.

I honestly didn't know what to expect with this show but the write-up was interesting enough for me to buy tickets. Let me just say that this show was not only high-energy and entertaining but it was also very heartwarming. I would absolutely recommend folks of all ages to come and see this show.

    Not the best

by DJ on 12/12/22New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Too many of the comments were off-color, especially for kids. The publicity said everyone would get a drumstick and another kind of musical instrument - but no one got anything.

We loved the show and bought more tickets to go to another one of their shows with our grandkids. This is a show that will entertain any age. They are not just great drummers but are so funny. Can't wait to see them again.

I purchased the tickets for my Dad’s Birthday- and he loved it! My parent went up to Maine for the weekend and I squeezed in a fun night out for them- they said the Dinner at David’s was phenomenal and the show was the cherry to top the night off.

    A little More drumming please

by valkd on 9/18/17Emens Auditorium - Muncie

    1. Recycled Percussion was AMAZING at their drumming and high energy performance parts of the show. They are truly very talented, However, they did about 15 min of this and the rest of the time was spent on things I wouldn't have paid money for such as dead space, comedy that wasn't that great, and audience participation bits. 2. I hated that they had the crowd clap along. If I wanted to hear a bunch of kids yelling and old people clapping off beat I would just go to church. 3. I found it annoying that they were trying to raise money for their anti-bulling campaign all the while bulling each other and people in the audience (example a 4 year old that the lead told "you have ADHD is what you have" several times throughout the show. Also the swag they were selling to raise money was crazy expensive. 4. So amazing drumming but the rest was just filler. I would have loved to see more drumming and hear less talking! I would not pay money to see this again - I would if it was all drumming !

The show was fantastic. We were out of our seats dancing the whole time. My kids lived it and my son was asked on stage. A lot of laughs. I would see recycled again

    A completely entertaining surprise!

by bobdenise on 8/26/16Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

We knew we would hear some amazing percussion, but did not expect the hilarious comedy & acrobatic thrills. Such a great show! But, I would caution bringing small children, it was very loud.
