I knew Ray Price was a true legend of country music but kept my concert expectations within reason due to the man's age. The venue being Salina's Stiefel or Fox Theatre intriqued me along with knowing that Ray would have a large band backing him up. Sure enough, Ray Price's band, the Cherokee Cowboys were top notch. You just don't see many country acts these days featuring four fiddle players & an upright bass. When announced, Ray walked slowly to take his place at the front of the stage. All my doubts about his ability to sing quickly faded when he began to sing. For an 84 year old man, Ray Price put on an unbelievable performance. He sang all of his big hits like "Crazy Arms, City Lights, & Heartaches by the Number." The audience was appreciative and his voice continued to amaze all in attendance with its range & strength. Now I understand why Ray Price belongs in that select group of legendary performers.
