RAPHAEL IN CONCERT:
Legendary Spanish singer Raphael has entertained audiences with his silky voice and flair for the dramatic for more than half a century, paving the way for a generation of crossover Latin artists. A quintessential divo, Raphael commands the stage at his live concerts with a degree of showmanship rarely seen in today's young singers, dramatizing the lyrics to hits from his 50+ studio albums as fans sing along to every last word. In celebration of 2013's Mi Gran Noche, Raphael will treat audiences around the world to more romance-filled nights of beloved classics on his Mi Gran Noche 2014 tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Spain in 1943, Raphael began singing at just three years old, winning a Europe-wide singing competition at age nine. Early on in his career, he gained notoriety for acting out the lyrics to his songs on stage, making highly dramatic gestures, wearing colorful folk costumes, and incorporating the physical language of flamenco and bullfighting in his performances. After representing Spain in the 1966 and 1967 Eurovision Song Contests, he became an international star, embarking on global tours and gaining a huge Latin American following with his rendition of folk standards like "Llorona" and "Sandunga." Over the course of his decade-spanning career, Raphael has become recognized as one of the most influential Latin artists of the 20th century, earning him a revered place in the hearts and minds of audiences around the world.

Tremendous energy and stamina as he sang 2hrs. and 45 minutes non-stop without losing any voice clarity or volume. This is not easily duplicated by many singers half his age. As usual, towards the end of the show, he finished a song without the help of the microphone, and he was heard throughout the huge venue. Hope he keeps coming back.

Rating: 5 out of 5by admiror on 3/21/11James L Knight Center - Miami Concert was great, he was wonderful as usual, but I would like to see that the people from the theater, will have more rules, about people being punctual, it was very annoying for the people that got there on time, that other people get late and want to get you out of your seat, and do not let you hear the singer. Even Raphael made a comment that people should get out of their houses 20 minutes earlier. I know that at other events like the Ballet, if you are late, you don't go in until the intermission. Otherwise, superb.

I was very embarrass and disappointed to see the mess created by all the people that came in late. I'm surprise Raphael did not cancell for a few minutes till everything was under contro. It reflected a very poor taste and respect from the people in Miami. I honestly never seeing anything like this in any other concert I have attended. Also food admitted inside the theater. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE. THEY SHOULD NOT ALLOW FOOD INSIDE THIS TYPE OF EVENT.

FABULOUS!!!!! Last time I saw Raphael in concert, it was at the new Adrianne Arsch Center, which I prefer to James L. Knight. But my review is not about the auditorium, it's about the performer.

Most of all I liked when he sang along with Carlos Gardel, that was fantastic. I also enjoyed when the sound was completely taken off and he sang a la capella; he was marvelous. I believe that Raphael is going to sing for 100 years more, his voice is angelic. What a wonderful voice, it made my skin and bones shiver. Thank you Raphael, you are representing our Latin American culture although you are from Spain, you are from our Mother Country and I am proud to be a part of it. Thank you again, and I hope and wish you good health always.
