Raphael Saadiq on Tour
A preeminent R&B performer, songwriter and producer of the last three decades, Raphael Saadiq reached a new level of achievement with the 2019 release of Jimmy Lee, his critically acclaimed fifth solo album. Although inspired by family tragedies and personal challenges, the songs on Jimmy Lee are filled with the verve, energy and ingenuity that have been trademarks of Saadiq's work since his beginnings in the multiplatinum-selling 90s group Tony! Toni! Toné!.
Saadiq continues to be that rare artist who combines his love and knowledge of classic soul and R&B with fresh ideas and musical innovations. These talents make him a vital artist in his own right as well as an invaluable collaborative partner for such superstars as D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige, Solange and John Legend.
Raphael Saadiq in Concert
Few contemporary artists have done as much to uphold the cherished virtues of old-school soul and R&B as Raphael Saadiq. Yet the Oakland native has also been at the musical vanguard ever since his earliest professional foray â as part of Sheila E.'s backing band on tour with Prince in the late â80s.
Barely out of his teens, Saadiq established himself as a uniquely talented songwriter and performer as the lead vocalist and bassist in Tony! Toni! TonĂ©!. In the â90s, the multiplatinum trio became a preeminent R&B act and a trailblazer for the neo-soul movement. Through this time, Saadiq also became much in demand as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer for a wide range of artists, including Whitney Houston, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, John Legend and Macy Gray.
In 2002, Saadiq released his first solo album, Instant Vintage, to wide acclaim. Steeped in the influences of Motown and Stax, his 2008 album The Way I See It was nominated for three Grammy Awards.
After a string of collaborative projects that included his Oscar-nominated music with Mary J. Blige for the movie Mudbound, Saadiq released his eagerly anticipated fifth album, Jimmy Lee, in the summer of 2019. It marks another career peak with its combination of intensely personal songwriting, musical sophistication and exhilarating performances.

One of the best concerts Iâve been to this year! An amazing and unforgettable experience.
T3 means so much to me as a California native. This show was nothing short of amazing! I know I was probably the youngest person in the building but seeing the best band perform live in their hometown reminded me of how much my parents poured into me through music. Raphael Saadiq is my favorite male vocalist, Iâve always said that. Ask Of You, and the intro to Anniversary are highlights for me. Thank you for grounding us from our phones and sharing your musical essence. Peace and LOVE to you all, T3!
This concert was everything and more. It started with a history of bay area legends. The 3 T's performed clsssic after classic, Raphael vocals were top tier. This concert reminded everyone why we have always loved this group.
Best show Iâve seen in a long time. Excellent. Proud to be from the Bay !
The visuals, the art, the outfits, the vocals, the bandđ„đ„đ„đ„. The audience did not want to sit down!
Thank you Raphael for getting back with your family. Awesome concert.
I truly enjoy live music from the original 3 members of the group. It was an outstanding musical experience. The band the background singers everyone was top tier and I truly enjoy myself.
Fabulous showâŠ. 3Ts back again!!! Band was awesome that sax player omg!!! It was great I appreciated the journey down memory lane
Amazing show start to finish. I also appreciated the No phone policy.
To see TTT back together in the town was epic. Oaklandâs finest showing love for the community they came from. These songs live. The musicianship. Wow ! Classics like âwhatever you wantâ , âit never rains â, âanniversary â . Rafael even did âask of youâ. âLittle Walterâ no phones just good times and great tunes . Please give us more đđŒđ«¶đ»
Best concert Iâve seen in long time. At times the joke with one another, made me feel like a big family affair. Vocal were on point as well as band mates. Wanted to go to SF show. This was an awesome show!!!!
I knew the show would be good. But I must admit I was taken aback that no cell phones were allowed. After the show, I realized I didn't even miss it!! I was to emersed into the performance, swaying to the music of the band, singing along, dancing with people next to me. There was no sea of cellphones recording that night. It was so amazing!! Raphael Saadiq back together with DeWayne and Timothy!! Even Latoya London was in the house. All reuniting back in Oakland, that was a well needed vibe. Kudos to the band!!
Best concert ever!! Sound was on point. Taking our cell phones was off putting, did not like it at all!! Finding my car after the concert was challenging. Show did not start on time but Tony Toni Tone was worth the wait.
The show was great! The phone pouches suck but I understand! I still enjoyed myself!
This was absolutely one of the best concerts I seen this year. It was a whole vibe and the music was fantastic. Iâm so glad I didnât pass this one up.
This was a great concert once they arrived. They gave it there all the whole group. I give them a 4 because they were very late coming to the stage. The show was supposed to start at 7:30pm and it did not start until 8:30pm. It would have been nice to be notified they would be late. However overall it was musically good.
It was a special blessing to be in the Paramount Theater as the Tonies made a triumphant return as the original threescore to their hometown of Oaklanf California. The show is all the hits, the way you remember them. If you missed this tour you missed out.
This concert was everything!!! I had been waiting for years for these bruthas to get together to perform one more time. If I say they didn't disappoint!!! From beginning to end was vibe.
I enjoyed the whole set. When Saadiq took the spotlight after a brief intermission for a string of his biggest solo hits (âGet Involved,â âBe Hereâ and âAsk of Youâ), it really took me back to some of the best times of my past. Then he ran through a medley of songs that heâd co-written with other artists, including Totalâs âKissinâ You,â DâAngeloâs âLadyâ and âUntitled (How Does It Feel),â Erykah Baduâs âLove of My Life,â Solangeâs âCranes in the Skyâ and BeyoncĂ©âs âCUFF IT.â I had no idea they were his but it made so much sense. By the showâs end I was in the aisle doing the running man to Feels Good! 10/10 - Highly recommend!
