About

As one of the pivotal performers in the neotraditional country movement, Randy Travis has been one of the groundbreaking singer/songwriters of his generation, bringing country music back to its grassroots heritage and veering it away from the more-commercialized, pop-influenced “Nashville sound” of the late 1960s and 1970s. His traditional light-baritone voice and straight-from-the-heart style harkens back to the classic country of decades ago, but with a decidedly contemporary sound. Ticket holders enthuse over the pure-country vibe of his concerts, which feature a mix of fan favorites, evergreen classics and new original works. In performance, Travis has a sincere, low-key style that invites comparisons to legendary performers such as Hank Williams. As you watch him perform, you get the feeling that you're watching a true legend, a singer's singer whose performance style encapsulates the best of an entire musical genre. With dozens of Billboard-charting singles and multi-platinum albums, Travis has been one of the most influential singers of his era, and his most recent album,  Influence, Vol. 1: The Man I Am  pays tribute to the mentors who inspired him.

In the mid-1980s, Travis recorded his great breakthrough album,  Storms of Life, which sold millions of copies and featured the hit singles “On the Other Hand” and “Diggin’ Up Bones.” A string of hit songs followed, including “I Told You So” and “Forever and Ever, Amen” (his best-known single). During the late 1990s, Travis turned his interests to gospel music, but in 2008, he returned to secular music in a big way with his album  Around the Bend, which he later recorded as a chart-topping duet with Carrie Underwood. The decade also garnered major awards for Travis, including a No. 24 ranking on CMT’s “40 Greatest Men of Country Music.” In 2009, Travis released  I Told You So: The Ultimate Hits of Randy Travis, and two years later released his  Anniversary Celebration.  His latest album, Influence, features covers made popular by mentors such as Ernest Tubb, Waylon Jennings and Lefty Frizzell.

In July 2013, Travis was hospitalized with viral cardiomyopathy; this was followed by a stroke, which necessitated brain surgery. In spite of conflicting reports about his health, it was recently announced that he’ll be starring in an upcoming  movie, “Christmas on the Bayou,” for Lifetime. While it's not known when he'll perform again, his fans are hopeful that the iconic singer will be able to embark on another concert tour sometime in the near future.

  • Wasn't sure what to expect

by JeffH21 on 10/21/25The Santander Performing Arts Center - ReadingRating: 5 out of 5

I am a fan of Randy Travis' music and also as a person. I knew of his stroke years ago, but was unaware of the lasting severity of it. His original band members performed and James Dupré did an outstanding job singing Randy's hits. The videos shown on the big screen behind the band added the the essence of the show. Randy and Mary Travis sat on the side of the stage. Mary told some stories about the effects of the stroke and the love shown by his peers and fans. Putting all this together made the experience totally exceed my expectations. Forever And Ever, Amen.

  • Excellent show!

This was a great show! So nice to see Randy Travis onstage again. James Dupree did an excellent job with Randy's hits. It was nice to hear the stories, too.

  • One of the best events ever

It's much more than a concert. It's also video and movie footage, an interview, a biography and a chance to meet a legend. It's a great way to celebrate such a talented person. Hopefully more legends that perhaps are past the point of performing a 2 hour concert could use this format to still share time with their fans.

  • Excellent Show

Somehow Randy, wife Mary, his original band along with James Dupre managed to put together a very enjoyable and heartwarming concert with a mix of Randy's archival videos blended with the voice James. Perfectly done. Randy and his wife were observers on the stage with Mary filling in some of the historical info and medical history. The couple were as hospitable and gracious as they could be.

  • Fantastic show

by CJS on 10/19/25The Maryland Theatre - HagerstownRating: 5 out of 5

While we all know that Randy has suffered vocal damage due to the devastating stroke he suffered in 2013, you wouldn't really realize it after seeing this show. Randy and his wife, Mary, sit on stage, close enough that folks can come up and snap photos of Randy, and she tells his story including some exciting things for the future that I will not divulge. The singer, James Dupre' who sounds a lot like Randy, sings the songs as they project the music video Randy recorded years ago, while he sings. It is an amazing experience that left me in tears, especially the song Horses in Heaven that I had not heard before. The enthusiastic audience sang along with many of the songs. I would love to see this show again.

  • Breathtakingly wonderful

Let me just say we love Randy and Mary Travis. They are the most kind and gracious couple out there. We had a chance to actually meet them. It was weird it felt like we were family at the same time being in the presence of greatness. My family is truly blessed to be able to see them. The concert itself was wonderful. James Dupre is gonna be on my radar now. He did Mr. Randy's so gs flawlessly. Mrs Mary did a emotional and breathtaking narration of the videos between songs. Everyone in the venue was so kind and we all knew we were in the presence of a legendary great artist. His band was every bit of wonderful as the day his albums were released. I consider my family truly blessed to be able to experience this. Right before I walked away from Mr Randy after shaking his hand. I looked him right in his eyes and told him "He was a point of light". He smiled that one of a kind Randy Travis smile. I knew he knew exactly what I meant. I turned to step away and his beautiful wife Mary was beaming with a smile as well. If you are a true fan you will understand what I meant. May God continue to bless them and the message they are relaying to the world. Forever and Ever , Amen!!!!!

  • Amazing, cozy show

James Dupré and the Randy Travis band put on an incredible show. James sounds wondering, the band was great. They took breaks to play old interviews and videos with Randy. James sang all of my favorite songs. They even played one of Randy’s newly produced AI songs and talked about all they put into producing it. It was glorious. Randy and Mary sat on stage the whole time, Mary told some fun stories, she talked about the health scare Randy went through. It was truly touching, and it felt like we were all there together celebrating an amazing man while he was there to celebrate with us. If you get a chance to see this tour, I highly, highly recommend going.

Loved the venue. Easy to get to, not a bad seat, beautiful and friendly staff. The concert was a true tribute to Randy Travis. Seeing how much he was enjoying himself and how involved he still is was awesome. A true example of never giving up no matter what you face.

It def was a different experience cuz one would expect him to sing but due to health problems he just simply can’t anymore. But his guest singer was amazing and did a phenomenal job at performing his songs and honoring Randy Travis. It was a great show and I would love to go again!

One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. Randy and his wife were sitting on the stage the whole time and interacted with the audience. James Dupre sang Randy’s songs and if you closed your eyes, you would think Randy was singing. Band was fabulous and it was fun to see old pictures and videos of Randy throughout his lifetime. I hope I will be able to attend one of his concerts again. Highly recommend!
