Great show. Last time I saw Rammstein live was August 2006 during the "Reise, Reise" tour in Berlin, Germany at the Wuhleide. Playing for their home town crowd in Germany blows the doors off of the show in Madison Square Garden (MSG), New York, during the "Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da" tour on December 11, 2010. However, even though the production value seen at MSG was lower than in Berlin, the impact was still strong, inspired, and simply awesome.
Consummate professionals at the heighth of their fame. True gentlemen of the hard rock stage. Perhaps we'll see them again on U.S. soil soon.
The crowd chanted during numerous sing-a-longs, but Till showed a wave of the hand, "forget-it" moment to the crowd a couple times when they missed the sing-a-long introduction lyrics of "Pussy", and when they botched the jump-in lyrical chant of "Keine Lust".
For non-speaking Germans in the crowd, a lyrical translation may bring meaning during the live-show theatrics of songs like "Wiener Blut", "Du Riechst So Gut", and "Ich Tu Dir Wir".
The pyro's were plenty, the lighting was inspired...early songs, new songs rivet the setlist. This fan would like to see more songs from the Rosenrot cd, which Rammstein did not tour in support of...however, there are multi-lingual power ballads smattered on the Rosenrot cd that spanish and english speakers know...
This show made my top-five all time concert list...however, the show seemed short at 2-hours. Ohne Dich, Stirb Nicht Vor Mir, Dalai Lama, Sehnsucht, Nebel, Spring, Rosenrot, among other we're noticeably missing. A 3-hour show, as played in Berlin, could have claimed the top-spot away from that show in 2006 where Rammstein played to their hometown crowd.
If they schedule more shows in the U.S. --- don't miss it.
