Rain City Drive on Tour

Northern California post-hardcore rockers Rain City Drive took their current name in 2021 after performing under the name Slaves since they originally formed in 2014.

Following the release of three studio albums, founding vocalist Jonny Craig left the band in 2019 and was replaced by current singer/songwriter Matt McAndrew, known for his appearance on Season 7 of NBC's reality TV singing competition "The Voice." McAndrew sang on the band's 2020 critically acclaimed fourth studio album, To Better Days (their final album under the name Slaves), which primarily addressed the theme of relationships -- romantic relationships, friendships and our relationships with ourselves.

This album preceded their critically acclaimed self-titled album, Rain City Drive, in 2022.

Don't miss the chance to see Rain City Drive's unapologetically raucous and invigorating live shows when they come to a city near you.

Rain City Drive Live in Concert

Originally formed in Sacramento, California, in 2014 under the name Slaves, pop-punk rockers Rain City Drive decided to change their name in 2021, announcing on social media that as supporters of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, they "could not continue to tie [their] music and [their] positive message to a word associated with such negative weight and hurt."

Initially adopting the name Rain City (inspired by the nickname of Manchester, the city where they met) the band decided to add Drive to the end of their name after signing to Thriller Records in 2021 with new vocalist Matt McAndrew joining guitarists Colin Vieira, Weston Richmond and Felipe Sanchez, and drummer Zachary Baker.

The band released their first studio album under the new moniker in 2022, the self-titled Rain City Drive, which manages to be both poppy and heavy as well as incredibly ambitious. Critics called it "an album of anthems" and it features several epic tunes that prove that the band has the musical chops to back up their hard-core swagger.

  • From who's that to playlist favorite

by Aprill on 8/2/25House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This show was so incredible. I was there for another band but fell in love immediately. I added to my playlist and haven't looked back since. They're so much better live, so if you're doubting a show don't and just go!!

  • Great show

by Lin on 8/1/25House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

I think they have excellent vocals and instrumentals! The sound is really good. One thing I’d like to see is more stage presence, see the lead singer perhaps move around more which may be harder since they are a larger group. I think that would be the cherry on top. Additionally I think some more songs that have variety within the genre to make them more distinct and unique. Lastly I would note that the mic for the singer should be a bit louder because the other instruments sort of drowned out his voice, which he has a really nice voice and range. I hope this helps with overall! This was my first impression of this band and I think they have it down just need some minor tweaks and they will go very far!

  • Mid tier opening band

First songg the vocalist mumbled into the microphone. The vibe did not fit with the other bands. Not a fan of this band.

  • Outstanding Lineup and Venue

by KPaulsen on 7/22/25Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

While getting to the Filmore is never easy, VIP parking across the street was worth the money. The venue staff is very professional and helpful. The lineup was outstanding, even though I was only familiar with 2 of the 7 bands. Artist performances were excellent with tons of energy and excellent sound. Highly recommend this tour!

This was one of the best concert experiences I have had in a long time! It was my first ever rock concert and Rain City Drive rocked this! I have been listening to them for about 4 months now and I will be seeing them again! 10/10 recommend!!

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

    by everlong_slumber on 9/29/24The Masquerade - Hell - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was an absolutely amazing concert! Rain City Drive sounds just like they do on the radio. They were with Until I Wake, Siamese, and Belmont. All of them put on a really great show! After everyones sets were over, the band members went to stand by their respective merch tables to interact and socialize with the fans. It wasn't just a line where once you get to the band, it's not like "Alright, next!"They actually TALK to you personally. Highly recommend going to see them!
