Poor sound management
by Jack on 8/2/23Rating: 2 out of 5My fiancé and I attended the Rain concert at the St. Michele Winery last Saturday and I must admit that for being the first time we took in a concert at this beautiful location, the actual concert itself was an acoustic disaster. Our seats we dead center and about 15 rows from the stage because we wanted to hear and enjoy the full balanced sound of the band but the bass guitar amp was turned up so loud that it felt as tho we were being pelted with very powerful low frequency thumps that were extremely uncomfortable, not to mention that it completely overwhelmed the other instruments and vocals. We endured this barrage of bass sonic blows until the intermission but then decided, that because of a failure on the part of the sound check technician, we just couldn’t continue to be assaulted in such a manner so we left at that time.
It’s quite ironic because on all of the Beatles records, Paul McCartney’s bass is very subdued, sometimes to the point of barely being able to hear it at all. To sum it up briefly I would say the band was good, the location was awesome, the people were polite but the sound was an unmitigated disaster.
