About

Largely regarded as a founding father of contemporary R&B, 2013 saw R. Kelly branching out, crooning alongside Lady Gaga on her hit single "Do What U Want" and performing with rapper 2Chainz on "My Story," the lead single from Kelly's 12th studio album Black Panties. Captivating ticket buyers with his sultry hits and power ballads since 1991, Kelly is the author of delirious pop culture hits like "Trapped in the Closet," which evolved from radio single to full blown rap opera. Iconic tracks like "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Ignition (The Remix)" are his calling cards, but Kelly is also a prolific writer and producer -- he famously shepherded late songstress Aaliyah's debut album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, and produced Michael Jackson's hit "You Are Not Alone." In 2002, Kelly partnered with a rising Jay-Z for a joint record and tour titled The Best of Both Worlds, appealing to a diverse market of music fans long before Watch The Throne was born. With the much-anticipated release of his 12th studio album in 2013, Kelly has fans looking forward to a series of upcoming live concerts in 2014.

Constructive Feedback -106 KMEL Summer Block Party

    by chasie68 on 8/31/09ORACLE Arena - Oakland

This was my first summer block party event and will be my last. Although, the line up for the show was good, however I highly recommend during intermission that he lights should be on or dim. I will say the security on the outside was tight and I did feel safe but once in the event it was a different story. The crowd, of drama and fights in the arena could have been prevented if the lights were dimmed or turn on. also Both the security and police would have had a better response when trying to get through the crowd to break-up the fights and we were constantly looking over our shoulder to make sure there weren't fights starting around us. when. Yes, I'm well aware that you can't control the crowd however too many youngster at an event like this is just too much for me to handle and experience again. I honestly believe the mature concert events where the crowd is much classy is the way to go. I also feel R.Kelly did do his thing despite having the crowd to wait 30mins before coming out to the stage, however I am aware with all the recent court settling his performance had to be a little conservative due to the age limits in attendance. Keyshia did her thing and her performance has improved from her last performance and her last event at the area with R. Kelly. All the other act's I don't know too much about as I'm not a favorite of their music but overall experience was very nice.

    Summer Block Party!!

    by Butta32 on 8/31/09ORACLE Arena - Oakland

The summer block party was cool! It was on my BIRTHDAY so I had a ball. There were two things that I didn't so much care for. All the little kids (not teens but kids) and how the floor was set up. If you had floor seats you were able to move around to different sections without being stopped. We had to kick people out our seats twice and they were mad about it. I would go again in a heart beat!!

    SBP 09

by CDiamond on 8/31/09ORACLE Arena - Oakland

Me and my girls really enjoyed ourselves at the Summer Block Party 09'. Although I missed Dorrough and the New Boys, the other 4 performances where great. Anytime Plies comes to the Bay, I will most definitely be there, so KMEL BRING HIM BACK!!!! R-Kelly brought back all the ole school ish. LOVED IT! Step in the name of love, Bump N Grind, You Remind Me...... The list goes on and on. And to make the night a full success, there wasn't any problems (fights, etc.) inside or outside of the Arena.

    by LEELEE091 on 8/30/09ORACLE Arena - Oakland

I enjoyed the concert very much. Keyshia was great as always. Probably my fave for the event. As much as I love Plies I was waiting for Put It On Ya and You but he never sang it =( Twista was coo because he sang my song! Slow Jams! I enjoyed really R.kelley! I just felt like sometimes his songs were lagging a little. But I still love him. Overall it was great. But yeah, it could've been a little better.

    Never again

    by Pumpkin2009 on 8/29/09ORACLE Arena - Oakland

I hate to say it but the concert was a waste. It was hard to enjoy the music when people are fighting and smoking marijuana. I feel the KMEL, who sponsored the event did not do anything to ensure security and safety of the concert goers. People were hanging in the aisle and being disrespectful. The music acts were okay. Plies was very explicit especially when young kids were in the audience. I do not think he got the memo that it was going to be various ages at the concert. R Kelly only did snippets of his songs and started taking requests. He is not a good performer. I was very disappointed by his performance.

R.KELLY AND PLIES IN THE SAME BUILDING, OMG!

    by BABYGIRL61985 on 8/29/09ORACLE Arena - Oakland

Man i couldn't wait to see plies and R.kelly! I liked all the artist but PLIES AND R.KELLY were the reason i bought the tickets. I took pics and some video from my seat unti PLIES came out. I took off running towards the stage as if i was being chased by an axe murderer, LOL! Females were stepping on my toes and verbally fighting with each other, but i didn't care about none of that, my mission was to get some good footage (AND I DID) of "PLIES BABY" in action! He's a VERY GOOD performer...NOW ON TO R.KELLY WHO WAS THE REASON MY FEET WAS HURTING SO BAD AFTER THE CONCERT, LOL! I COULD HAVE WATCHED KEYSHIA COLE FROM MY SEAT BUT I CHOSE TO STAND IN MY STILLETTOS FOR THE REST OF THE CONCERT TO AVOID LOSING MY SPOT IN THE FRONT AND MISS OUT ON GETTING SOME EXCELLENT PICS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE !(AND I DID!) I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL WHEN R.KELLY WALKED OUT ON STAGE. I'VE BEEN SUPPORTING AND LOVING R.KELLY THROUGH IT ALL SINCE BORN IN THE 90's! HE PERFORMED EVERY SONG I WANTED HIM TO! I ENJOYED EVERY PART OF HIS PERFORMANCE. THAT WAS $150 PER TICKET (3) WELL SPENT!
