This was my 14 year old daughter’ first concert. She plays trumpet and piano. Now, she wants to play violin. The show was absolutely perfect in every way. As Georgia natives and fans of both classical music and R.E.M, we were blown away by the arrangements and the pure joy and energy of the performances. I’ve been to many many shows over my life and this one is hands down the best show I’ve ever seen.
R.E.M. music reimagined by the Symphony, and Mike Mills performing with Robert McDuffie ... it was incredible!!
You didn't have to be an REM fan to enjoy this show but it did help to be able to recognize the songs and imagine the lyrics. This was a fantastic demonstration of how symphonies can perform successfully perform contemporary music and hold the interest of a non traditional audience. We're already symphony attendees but LOVED the vibe and momentum and creativity of this performance and would recommend to EVERYONE.
This shhow was wonderful. The orchestra conductor had so much energy. It obviously got to the players, because they were performing the music wonderfully. The time changes through the music would baffle most musicians, but not this ensemble. I would love to see a live CD or BluRay of this. Id buy either.
