My ears just stopped ringing after 24 hours. Johnny Rotten (as he is again referring to himself) is riviting. You almost can't take your eyes off him. Robotic in his movements, gargling with brandy and spitting into some trash can, threatening the jackass who spit at him, his wailing for almost 2 1/2 hours was nothing short of amazing. The updated version of the band is quite good. If I had to describe the actual 'music', I guess it's a combination of dub meets screaching rock, but that doesn't do it justice. The BASS, always the main focus of PiL, grabs and holds and doesn't let go. If you see them, I highly recommend you buy earplugs. You won't need them until he begins his rant to introduce Religion. When he demands more bass from the sound man, be careful. It's like getting punched in the gut so hard the air actually thickens. When you think it can't possibly get louder, it does. But even that pales before the final encore, Open Up. Then you'll thank me for the heads up. Believe me, 1/2 the crowd were holding their ears. It's like being next to a jet engine in a violent thunderstorm. I've seen The Who, Zeppelin, and Lee Michaels up close and this was more overpoweing. The highlights for me were This Is Not A Love Song (set opener), Annalisa, Warrior, Flowers of Romance, Death Disco, and Chant., although pretty much everything but Sun was great. Enjoy the show!
