    Propagandhi worth the wait!

    by MrPete on 7/15/09Magic Stick - Detroit

    Decent venue. Wish they'd open the doors on-time but the half-hour wait wasn't bad. OK opening acts (i.e. Swellers, Rise Against). Main act, Propagandhi, put on an extremely tight and amazing punk rock show. Fantastic. Despite having to sit through two average opener bands, the main act was worth every penny. Better than even I anticipated!

    Music with a message

    by jpbsa on 7/15/09Magic Stick - Detroit

    This was a good bill. The Swellers were a great opening band. I wasn't completely taken by them, but I was glad to see a local Michigan band in an opening slot that didn't make me want to leave the venue. The Swellers put on a great show. When Strike Anywhere came out I was excited since I hadn't seen them in at least four years. They still play with the same amount of intelligence and passion I've come to expect from this band. This band is what punk rock is all about to me. When Propagandhi came out I was more than ready to rock. A lot of people have dropped off the Propagandhi wagon because they are "metal" now. Sure, after their first two albums they had a minor line up change and decided to become heavier. I love those old melodic songs that John Samson poured his beautiful little heart into, but I also love the thrash that Propagandhi has come to throw down. The people that were there only to hear old songs bummed be out, but Propagandhi cheered me up by playing 3 or 4 of their songs written specifically to piss of their fans that just don't get it. Anti-Manifesto, Less Talk, More Rock and other such songs were written for the kids that just don't listen or just don't get the lyrics. It was nice to be in on the joke. If you are a fan of Propagandhi you have to know they have a weird sense of humor that they bring to their show.

    Propagandhi=awesome

    by MorePunkThanYou on 7/13/09Glass House - Pomona

    Propagandhi continues to write better and better music. Their live show is fantastic, and with the addition of another guitar player to the lineup, the sound is more full. Expert guitar, bass, and drums accompanied by solid vocals make this band a must see. In addition, the lyrics are insightful and poignant. Their great live show is evidence of the talent present in these Canadian thrash/punk musicians.

    Amazing as always!

    by Deadeye157 on 7/13/09Glass House - Pomona

    Propagandhi killed it like they always do, but the intimate feel of the Glass House made this show one of the best I have ever been to! I've seen these guys before, but never in such tight quarters with so few people. We opted to make the drive to Pomona from San Diego rather than going to see the next night's show at Soma and it was way worth it. If you haven't seen Propagandhi you're missing out. And if you ever get the chance to see a good show at the Glass House go for it.

    Propagandhi: Punk Powerhouse in Pomona, eh?

    by Jinxi on 7/13/09Glass House - Pomona

    Friday, May 29th, was an event for our family's memory book. After being fans of the band Propagandhi for over fifteen years, my husband and I finally got to see them play LIVE at The Glass House in Pomona, California. Even better, we were able to take our three kids with us, as The GH is an all-ages club and the perfect setting to witness one of the best punk bands ever rock like we knew they would. We had great spots in the very front, directly behind the barrier, over on the right-hand side; so we could see brilliantly, but weren't smack dab in the middle of all the chaos that typically goes down at a punk show. Witnessing this incredible band play was not only fantastic entertainment-wise, but the importance of the experience was something extra meaningful to us because this band (more than any other band that we dig) encompasses our ideologies almost to a T. Propagandhi is well-known for their activism regarding causes like: * sexism * homophobia * animal rights/liberation * racism * capitalism * religion * fascism * imperialism * human rights violations They are vegans and are not only excellent musicians, but are well-read and well-written men with passionate, articulate messages to share. When we visited their merch table after the show, so that our son could buy a non-sweatshop/fair trade/organic cotton t-shirt, we discovered that half of their table was covered with excellent books (many of which we have in our home library) and reading material. Truth is a virus! May 29th was a night that I will never forget and hope to repeat again in the future. Thank you, Propagandhi. Thank you for bringing awareness to the world through your messages. Thank you for standing for what you do. Thank you for using music as your voice to spread the truth and not as a tool to getting rich. Thank you for making a difference in my life and for not backing down. Thank you for one hell of a memorable night!
