The Presidents Cup is a biennial international men’s golf tournament held by the PGA Tour since 1994. The event features a series of matches across four days between a team of professional American golfers and a team of International players and an international contingency of players from across the globe, excluding Europe. The proceedings also feature an Honorary Chairperson, including eight former U.S. presidents and heads of state from host countries such as Australia, South Korea and South Africa. The tournament also notably awards no prize money, with proceeds instead being donated to player-nominated charities. The Presidents Cup changes location for each tournament. The 2024 Presidents Cup will celebrate the series’ 15th iteration as well as its 30th anniversary, and will be held for the second time at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Too many people & hard to find decent viewing spots. On Sunday, we really only scored two decent vantage points all day - rest of the day spent trying to get these vantage points then waiting.... On Thursday we had Captains Club tix - which turned out to be pretty much a useless upgrade. It was very hot Thursday & the a/c in the club could not keep up - it might have been hotter inside than on the exterior terraces. The a/c in the Merch tent worked fantastic by comparison. There were just too many large grandstands which almost totally prevented a decent view, particularly on the 14th. I have always liked to sit on the slope beside the (normally 17th) green during Wells Fargo/Wachovia tournaments, but during Pres.Cup (14th), it was basically impossible due to extra tents erected beside the green - we had to sit so far away from the green that I couldn't see anything basically. It was nice, however, to see some of the worlds best up close and in person a few times over the 2 days we were in attendance. We really enjoyed watching everyone at the practice range and particularly several participants really up close, at the chipping/sand practice green.
I had a great day at the president's cup. The parking/shuttle system worked near perfectly. I got the perfect spot on the first green to watch all 12 groups play through and then got to the third row at the 15th green to see the action there. A bonus was that the award ceremony was there and I even got a great picture of it. A fun day of golf.
Well organized and enjoyable. While crowd size was similar to other major golf events, the match play format made it more difficult to gain good viewing access. We would definitely explore the use of the ticketed grandstands at similar events in the future. Shopping for merchandise was similarly restricted with entrance lines extended well outside of the facility for much of the day. Ticket purchase and parking were exceptionally well handled.
Let’s start with the great. Transportation and parking very well thought out and accessible although price could be better considering cost of tickets for event. Food choices numerous and good, but again pricey. C’mon Inizio’s, $9.50 for a slice of pizza!!! Price gouging and taking advantage of hungry people. The bad. Not enough restroom areas and too far apart for those with ground tickets only. Just when they are in sight, one was redirected completely around a “club” or another barrier. This made it very difficult for older people or those with children. Also difficult to find these areas. Poor signage. Only noted at “major intersections” but God forbid one used a crosswalk across a fairway. Extra ground stake signs would have been helpful. Better than trying to enlarge map on a phone and later finding barriers to go around or asking directions from event staff who then also tried to consult a map. More public viewing grandstands would have been nice instead of just catering to the “club class” Otherwise, nice weekend of golf but not sure if I would return. Been there, done that.
What a wonderful experience! Great crowds and great golf. By far the largest build out I have ever seen at a golf event. There were a few short comings though. To the benefit of sponsors, etc, most viewing areas were dominated by corporate compounds and lacked grandstands for the common folk. There were only 2 public ones on the course. With 40,000 people trying to watch 4 or 5 groups, it was nearly impossible to see much golf except to watch it on the many video screens on the course. Sunday’s singles was a bit better with 12 groups on the course. As usual, not enough restrooms were available. Long lines at most. One good thing was the mobile “beer buggies” that roamed the venue selling drinks from golf carts. All in all a great event and exciting to pull for the USA and clap for amazing golf on both sides.
Positives: Great golf spectator experience. Weather held (Sunday) Negatives: Limited public viewing grandstands. Food quality was well below average compared to PGA and Wells Fargo held at same site. Toilets facilities were limited and below average. Merchandise tent was buried on course rather than at entrance/exit.
Super organized transportation. Green lit was perfect. Fifteen minute ride max right to front gate. Staff were also great keeping everyone moving.
The golf course was well maintained and the players were exceptional, interacting with the crowd and each other. I enjoyed the experience Thursday and Saturday. Food, drink and merchandise were organized and stocked. The only issue was there were very few hydration stations on the course, and this was annoying. Everything else was very good.
Very difficult to see any golf with the format of play & amount of people allowed to attend.
We went all four days and had a GREAT time. Atmosphere was festive. Golf was fun. Course was beautiful. Lines were crazy long at the South End food places. Captain's Club was okay - not fully convinced it was worth the price - they needed more seating in and outside. More chairs, for sure. The food in the Cap't Club was mediocre at best. Much better food options at NoDa and South End sections. Overall, we were really impressed with how well organized the entire event was. Would not hesitate to attend another tournament at Quail Hollow.
We had a great time with family. And it was great to be back at Quail-although I hate the new hole numbering!
Information on the ground about the scores for each of the pairings as they came through a hole was scantily available on the ground and difficult to decipher when the placards were marched through. It was not intuitive from the sign which team was up or down (apparently depended on the color of the team on the placard) and, although we kept looking for leader boards there were none (save for the few TV feeds if you happened to be lucky enough to be on a hole that had one). All of this would not have been so bad if the digital bandwidth for 40,000 spectators, many using Verizon cellphone services which is the largest provider in Charlotte, had been sufficient. You could have followed the pairing progress by hole and understand the scoring better. Unfortunately, my husband and I along with nearly everyone we talked to kept getting "no server available" messages all day long. Additionally, as with most tournaments, spectators spent a lot of time scoping out key vantage points and waiting, sometimes for hours, for the pairings to move through. While everyone is used to the in convenience caused by TV coverage, the golf carts full of other golfers and family parking on the course around the greens and approach shots made it impossible for spectators to see what they had been waiting for and paid for. We were there on Saturday and heard many people say that they would not return on Sunday because it was so much better to stay home and watch it on TV.
Access to the grounds involved walking up and about 40 steps from the bus drop off location. This was very hard for seniors with disabilities.
I thought the event and venue was a great experience. The bathrooms were not kept up and the alcohol tents were too few and far between. The tents and golf carts for beer and wine was a good idea. Can’t wait to go to another event. The people of the city and at the venue were top notch too.
Quail Hollow did a great job of managing the crowds. Enormous place. They could have used better signage to find exits and shuttles. We got so lost. Food was pretty good. Will definitely go to Wells Fargo tournament there in the spring.
A terrific tournament with great competition. Quail Hollow was a fantastic place to watch from.
The event was run well and there were good stands to sit in at the first tee. However, viewing at others holes was very difficult because of the format of the event and the number of people in attendance. Charging for parking shuttles is absolutely ridiculous.
Event was fantastic and crowds were huge. Not much help for me with respect to handicap accommodation in getting around the venue. Captain's Club was just okay - very crowded and you had to get there early to get a good spot - not sure it was worth the money because it didn't really provide a real benefit. Lots of walking required. Fan store was a zoo. Lots of people, long lines and limited selection of items. No values to be had there, but everyone was buying stuff. Transportation and parking was acceptable, yes they had handicap parking which was fine, but was still required some walking to get to buses.
The Internationals were very gracious with autographs but the Americans not very much. Should have been the other way around. That part disappointed me. The venue was cool but border line too much. The PGA officials were a bit pushy.
