Everything was perfect! The venue, the drinks, the seats I selected. Watching Perry, Peter, Stephen, Mr. Watts and Etty do their thing was amazing! Just wish they sang "Kimberly Austin."
I really tamed my hopes down for the show… just because the boys are older (as am I). I figured it would be a more laid back nostalgia trip. They brought the fire! I haven’t seen Perry so engaged in years. His voice was in top form… there wasn’t any phoning it in. Pete was shredding! Stephen looked like a 20 year old back there… and Mike Watt was keeping it all grounded… I hope this really isn’t the end for that line-up.
This is a rare opportunity to see some of the best musicians playing some of the most creative and wonderfully whimsical rock ever made and it holds up so well to all the processed junk our ears are forced to accept as music. This is your last chance - I was there!!
I managed to get front row! Shake the guitar players hand, get handed the set list from the stage and take pictures and get a hug from Perry! Best 45th Birthday Ever!!!
Change on venue was a bummer, they played a solid 17 song set. Openers Tiger Cub were fun. A rockin time was had by all.
I wasn't that familiar with this band's music, but from what I could tell, they sounded good. The one interesting thing is that off to the side on the right, there was a guy controlling a prompter that had the lyrics to the song on a screen. He would scroll the lyrics as the song progressed. Does Perry Farrell have a problem remembering lyrics to his songs?
Perry Farrell and PFP were awesome. Perry is such a showman, and he knows how to work the audience up into a frenzy. They've been starting out with Agua and then mixing it up, loved cursed male. It's just crazy to think that Porno for Pyros came from the ashes of the LA riots and they just completely shred that song with complete emotion. I saw them in Boston March 6th HOB but I've watched some of the other shows on utube from the start of the tour and you definitely see the band getting more comfortable with every show. Perry claimed to the audience he can rock for 10 more years but I say catch him now or in the near future while he still has the energy of a younger man. This bands iconic, they just don't make them like this anymore, true rockers. This show is a truly great value, you'll be happy afterwards.
3 days later and I’m still giddy. Porno for Pyros was absolutely phenomenal. I attend several shows a year and I cannot remember the last show I had so much fun. The energy from the crowd was so positive. On my way out I was seriously considering getting tickets for the following night.
Perry and the boys and girls were on fire!! Great show! Only sad part is it was a farewell show…went out on top!! Venue was cool but parking was terrible.
Porno for Pyros CRUSHED IT. Perry Farrell is a master showman. Stephen Perkins is a great drummer. Peter DiStefano is an amazing guitarist....and Mike Watt is a master bassist.
Fuego y Agua (Fire and Water)....who would have thought these to could gel so perfectly! I've seen Jane's Addiction numerous times and have always experienced a fantastic show. But the chemistry this time with Porno For Pyros crew was magical! From Perry's stage presence and lyrical mastery, to the ethereal guitar tones from Peter, to the driving rythm of Steve and Mike Watt absolutely obliterating your heartbeat....it truly was magical! I sincerely hope this is not the farewell for Porno For Pyros and the road because if it is and you didn't witness it, you've missed a show of a lifetime!
The night started out great with Tigercub as the opener. Those dudes killed with huge riffs that were straight from the Sabbath and Soundgarden text book. Had great vocals and harmonies as well. Porno For Pyros have been a bucket list band for me to see, and they didn’t disappoint. I’ve been a fan since my older brother introduced them to me when I was in middle school. I didn’t even know about Jane’s Addiction at the time and just thought it weird that “Jane Says” wasn’t on a PFP album. The set was well balanced with songs from their self titled album and “Good God’s Urge,” Perry still sounded great, maybe he didn’t hit the highs as much, but his vocals were still perfect for the songs. He still held court in between songs with his simplistic yet eloquent Everyman type of banter. Of course, Stephen Perkins was absolutely astounding on the kit! A please surprise was the technical skill Destefano brought on guitar with solos that were def not heard on the albums, yet, he still wove a abstract sonic masterpiece most couldn’t even dream of. If you have the chance make sure to see this tour! Me, I’m hoping they are like Kiss in the sense that they do 10k Farewelll tours cause I’ll go every time they come!
I've always been keen on catching their gigs, especially Perry Farrell, given his journey in the scene. I was anticipating a solid rock band like countless others, but what unfolded was completely unexpected. They were an exceptional, refined ensemble. Their live performance surpassed any studio album. It's a must-see show for sure.
Dave who? It’s clear whether it’s Jane’s Addiction or Porno for Pyros, it’s the genius of Perry Ferrell that makes both groups great. Perry is absolutely one of the best front men in rock history and Porno for Pyros had the walls vibrating. I hope this really isn’t the final tour.
Aside from $15.00 Stella beer....hmmmm? !huh, nop Venue, not a bad sight line at all! Great, Great Staff...I'd say why, but believe it, v helpful and accommodating!
Fine show put on by Porno for Pyros. A big fan of Perry Farrell - "The GODFATHER of Alternative Rock". TigerCub opened the show - fine artists from the UK. Polite staff at the History welcome you to the show. A great evening in Toronto.
Well as my title says first time seeing P4P... i had seen Janes addiction a year or so back at LCA... and i have the same overall thoughts here.. Perrys vocals were not out there enough.. did he sound bad? Dunno, could hardly hear him sometimes..the band was great, was excited to see them and it eas a good show....but i do wish his vocals were clearer/louder
Perry Ferrells voice was great that night. The band was on FIRE as well. They played a great setlist including all the classics. Had the original line up from Good Gods Urge. Such an intimate show. So many great people showed up & the staff and security at the Filmore were great.
Great seats, great bands and great time. Always love seeing Perry Ferrell perform. Tigercub was a bonus. Outstanding!
One of my favorite bands! Was too young to see them in the 90's - sooooo happy to see them live even if they're calling it quits after
