    Fun but overpriced

by Anonymous on 3/22/15Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

March Madness is always great. Been doing the same event at Planet Hollywood for a few years now. This year, they raised the price to $150/day. This included watching the games on some huge screens, a boring buffet, and draft beer. Price is now way too high for what you get. Even if they buffet was nice and premium liquor was served, it would still be over priced. This might explain why it didn't sell out, and by Friday, the crowd was dwindling and atmosphere low. No better time to be in Vegas than March Madness, but they need to go back to the way they used to do it.

Food was pretty bad. This event has gone downhill.

    Whatcha Whatcha Whatcha Want?

by TorranceCA on 3/22/15Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

After reading the reviews I was a bit nervous about plopping down the money for this. I'm glad I did. Is it worth it?? Well, if you're only trying to figure out if you will consume $150 worth of beer, hot dogs and chips, no... it's not worth it. The value is in the environment. Giant room. 8 giant screens. PLENTY of seats. We were only there on Thursday and even during the peak of the day I'd say only about 60% of the seats where occupied. There is a sports book right there so you can bet and collect. You can come and go as you please all day... You left but need another beer? Just walk in, get your beer and leave. To be clear, the food is "meh" at best. Hot dogs. Sandwiches (pretty good). Tortilla chips with some different salsas. Potato chips. Desserts. etc... In the morning they had bagels, muffins, etc..

    Hoops on the Mezz

by Anonymous on 3/31/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Overpriced for watching the first Saturday of March Madness. Food was cheap but plentiful. Same to the beer. $150 for this was way overpriced.

overpriced, terrible beer and forgettable food. I think would be worth about half the price. If you sat there and drank all day betting with 2-3 meals and heavy drinking probably would be a better deal to just post up at one of the bars.

    Overpriced

by Anonymous on 3/25/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Good concept, but poorly designed. For $150, would expect improvements as follows: 1. Better food: cardboard chxn strips not acceptable & chips?! 2. Chairs were uncomfortable: try theater seats. Hard to sit in a metal chair for 8 hrs straight. Upside: ample visibility on projector screens; ease of betting; drinks accessible.

    Hoops on the Meh

by SnapTheJapanese on 3/25/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

I have been to this event before & I had a good idea what to expect: mediocre food, plenty of seating, games almost everywhere. So, when I purchased my tickets for this year's event, I was a bit off-put that the price went up $50 from the previous year. I was REALLY disappointed when I came to find... It was the EXACT same as last year! Hell, it was less, for more money, actually. 2 years ago Clyde Drexler stopped by, and last year, Robert Horry. This year, again, for $50 more, we get... Nobody. I will not be returning to this event at the current price.

Way over priced for what one gets! The Hoops on the Mezz at Planet was the place to be but over the last two years the price went up and the service went down, and crowds have went away with it. They need to rethink this because other hotels are doing it better and cheaper now.

Food was poor, made me physically ill later that evening. The seats themselves were good, but WAY too far away from the TVs, and had to put plates and cups on the floor. The event wasn't terrible but certainly not worth $150 and won't be returning next year.

Hoops on the strip, Planet Hollywood

by coie on 3/24/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Have been attending for the last 8 years. Used to be free and pay for drinks, now with a charge that continues to rise each year. Their cutting back, this year no bottle beer only draft. Your better off sitting in the book. Don't waste your money.

    A Place to Sit

by Anonymous on 3/24/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The price doubled from 2013 with the same food, no improvements. $150 for a place to sit with hot dogs is clearly not worth it. The short lines for the betting station actually isn't a benefit, that's outside of the paid area.

Good setup but could make some changes

by AvidMarchMadnessGuy on 3/23/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

When I think about March Madness NCAA college basketball & then I think of VEGAS! I've been attending this event for the last 5+years and it's a great setup but each year the price goes up. There are a few things that I would change that would make this experience that much better. Upgrade the projectors (they're the same ones that have been in use for years), move the audience closer to the screens, add well or premium bar included in the package cost. Add more servers/waitresses that could take drink orders. Add a temporary LED screen at the pop-up sportsbook that could display up to the minute lines & 2nd half prop bets. Every other hotel has this option but for some reason PH hasn't caught on. The food is below par and it has been for years...Make some small changes and don't raise the price each year and this event could be even better than it already is.

    Not worth the cost

by DDiCicco57 on 3/23/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

This was my 3rd year going to Vegas to watch the NCAA tournament. My group of friends has tried a different viewing party each year. Hoops on the Mezz was definitely not worth the $150. It was held in a large ballroom with hundreds of seats packed side by side. The large projection TVs were about a 100 ft away. I had to stand up or move around since people were constantly going to/from their seats and blocking the view. Breakfast consisted of muffins and Danishes. Lunch buffet was fried chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chips/salsa, and 2-3 other sides. There was all you can drink bud/coors/miller lite. In summary, views of the game weren't that. I'd rather eat fast food than what they served. It might be worth $50-$75 but not $150. I'd rather buy admission to a place with great views of the game for $50 (e.g., Cosmo) and spend $100 on better food/drinks.

    Terrible food and draft beer

by Anonymous on 3/23/14Hoops on the Mezz at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Las Vegas

We did this event Thursday and Friday last year and had a great time. Good setup for watching the games. The food was lousy, but there was free bottled beer all day. This year, we decided to go back despite a $30 increase in price. They had the same awful food and switched to draft beer. Biggest ripoff ever at $150 per day. We didn't even go up there on Friday despite having purchased the tickets. We won't be back next year unless they make some changes, and I would recommend anyone else avoid it as well.
