Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the National Hockey League for the 1967-1968 season during the League's expansion from six to 12 teams. The Penguins played at Civic Arena (nicknamed "the Igloo") until the 2009-2010 season, when they moved to PPG Paints Arena (formerly CONSOL Energy Center).
Postseason appearances have been nearly a birthright for the Penguins and their fans since the 1990-1991 season, after which they won five Stanley Cup Championships. They've won six conference championships and earned the Stanley Cup Champion title in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017) with coach Mike Sullivan and the great Sidney Crosby as captain at the helm.
In the 2005 NHL Draft the Penguins selected Crosby as their No. 1 pick. Dubbed “The Next One,” Crosby has spent an historic 18 seasons with the Penguins and entered the 2023-2024 at 25th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
The franchise boasts more than a dozen former players in the NHL Hall of Fame, including Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Bryan Trottier, and Paul Coffey. The Penguins most recently made the playoffs in 2022. To date, they've appeared in the playoffs 37 times.

We lost but seats were great. Really upsetting that ticketmaster sends you too many reminders and requests you to download 3rd party apps. Likecgoogle wallet. Just display my tix. Gawd.
Had a blast some of the staff was a little rude although i believe it was just their tone. Other than that we had a great experience and would love to come back.
My husband and I had a blast! I know nothing about hockey, but he’s a Pitt fan and the people around us were awesome and the game was a nail biter. The arena is also beautiful! Would love to go again!
I love going to Penguin games at PPG Paints Arena. Not a bad seat in the house and everyone who works there is super helpful.
It’s was my wife’s 60th Birthday and since she used to work for the Penguins over 30 years ago, she was extremely excited about being there, and the overall experience did not disappoint!!! Everything was great, from both her and my perspective!!!
They Pens played a great game which got a little closer then us fans wanted. The arena is always awesome to go to. Malkin being back is what they need to lift them up to hopefully make a run for the cup this year. It’s awesome when you get to see a few fights get to watch our all star goalie make a save on a penalty shot and most importantly we get the W!
The arena is beautiful, clean, and nicely organized. The staff is friendly and helpful, The seats are comfortable with ample room.
Enjoyed the 70’s night and the seat was good too. Everyone was very nice from the concession stand to the section attendants.
The energy and since I got them for my boyfriend it was amazing to see how excited he got

We have always enjoyed the Pens hockey games. This was our first time back in a few years. Sadly, we were in the minority for wearing masks even though it was recommended. I don’t think we will be going back anytime soon.
There is not a bad seat in this building! The only problem I had was at the entrance, my Ticketmaster app wouldn't load. The staff had a stand setup to resolve my issue so I got in without much hassle or extra waiting. The seats were great and was able to watch a win. Lets Go!
I took my son and his girlfriend’s family to this game and it was awesome. We had great seats. The game ended in a win too so that was a great outcome.
We traded in the Nutcracker holiday kick off for hockey this year. It was so much fun. Some of us are Penguins fans and some are Sabres fans. The teams were well paired and gave us a great event to experience. The venue was great and the ushers were, as always, helpful and kind. We can’t wait to come back!

We had a wonderful time at the Pens game! It was Star Wars night and we got some good pictures with the Star Wars characters. Pens won, which made the experience even better. GO PENS!!!
