Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the National Hockey League for the 1967-1968 season during the League's expansion from six to 12 teams. The Penguins played at Civic Arena (nicknamed "the Igloo") until the 2009-2010 season, when they moved to PPG Paints Arena (formerly CONSOL Energy Center).
Postseason appearances have been nearly a birthright for the Penguins and their fans since the 1990-1991 season, after which they won five Stanley Cup Championships. They've won six conference championships and earned the Stanley Cup Champion title in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017) with coach Mike Sullivan and the great Sidney Crosby as captain at the helm.
In the 2005 NHL Draft the Penguins selected Crosby as their No. 1 pick. Dubbed “The Next One,” Crosby has spent an historic 18 seasons with the Penguins and entered the 2023-2024 at 25th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
The franchise boasts more than a dozen former players in the NHL Hall of Fame, including Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Bryan Trottier, and Paul Coffey. The Penguins most recently made the playoffs in 2022. To date, they've appeared in the playoffs 37 times.

As always Pittsburgh Penguins game was a blast!!! Good time & a great win!!!
Fun night with my boys, ❤️________________________________________——
Been a Pens fan for over 50 years. Special 70th birthday gift from my daughter Melanie and her husband Mike (and granddaughter Evelyn). Seats right behind the Pens bench. Was a once in a lifetime experience. Shame we lost. This was a game I will NEVER forget.
We had awesome seats and as usual the pens were fantastic!
Great seats, incredible atmosphere. No problem parking, ticketmaster was easy to use....paperless. Overall great venue. Will definitely be back.
Went to the penguins game… used the govx tickets at a deal and had a good time at the game.
The Pens playoff game was one of the best sporting events that I ever have attended. The atmosphere in the arena was over the top. Our seats were great, in fact 5 of the goals scored by the Pens were near our seats. Can't wait to go back again!! Let's go Pens!!!!
A playoff hockey game is a completely different animal, I really enjoyed the first game we went to but the playoff game was amazing 👍
Everything about PPG Paints Arena is great except the food. They really have to do a better job of serving something reasonably appetizing.
The best moment of my life to go from Czech Republic for play off game to Pittsburgh.
The event itself was what I would expect from a hockey game. The building however left a lot to be desired it looked like a minor league venue, there wasn’t enough restrooms and the food offerings were eh. The worst is the egress after the event - the place is a death trap waiting to happen. Everyone was trying to exit at one spot and there was no one to offer any assistance. If a fire broke out there would be a great number of fatalities.
Awesome win for the Pens! Our seats were in Section 107. There were 11 goals in the game, 10 were scored right in front of us. Staff was helpful as usual. Ticketing process was smooth and easy. A memorable Mother's Day gift for my wife.
First of all, it's an absolute that hockey is best when experienced in person. You see the entire ice, can watch the lines change easier, and if you're near a goalie who is on fire, there is nothing like watching him steal goals up close and personal (or, conversely, if your team's offense is on fire, watching pucks go behind him). Now ratchet it up a level or three for playoff hockey and words begin to fail to describe the feeling. I've been a Steelers fan for decades; I know what it's like to be surrounded by waving towels, but there's just something about being in that building with all those towels waving and feeling the excitement of the entire building. It's an experience every hockey fan should have.
Great seats! Super nice people work at the PPG Arena! Best Pittsburgh Penguins playoff game I have ever been to!! The building was rocking with 18,187 fans!! 🖤🐧💛
Best playoff atmosphere ever. The crowd was great the game was great you can't ask for more
The seats were phenomenal and the experience was even better. The entire place was electric and involved in the game. Penguins always come to impress and we came out with a W.
Only downfall was we were unable to participate in hat drop or tee shirt toss due to safety netting. Otherwise it was a great night.
Great game. Was very exciting. Good scoring and a few fights. Awesome save by the goalie Desmith
Tried buying tickets less than an hour before the game and prices kept fluctuating up and down. Every time I’d try to buy 2 tickets the page would freeze so I started over and over again. By this time, tickets were going up. Which makes zero sense when people are trying to dump them last minute. I finally was able to make it into PPG because the signal was poor outside and when I was finally able to get two tickets, I kept getting logged out of Ticketmaster. 30 minutes, $500 later, and I finally made it into the game.
