Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the National Hockey League for the 1967-1968 season during the League's expansion from six to 12 teams. The Penguins played at Civic Arena (nicknamed "the Igloo") until the 2009-2010 season, when they moved to PPG Paints Arena (formerly CONSOL Energy Center).
Postseason appearances have been nearly a birthright for the Penguins and their fans since the 1990-1991 season, after which they won five Stanley Cup Championships. They've won six conference championships and earned the Stanley Cup Champion title in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017) with coach Mike Sullivan and the great Sidney Crosby as captain at the helm.
In the 2005 NHL Draft the Penguins selected Crosby as their No. 1 pick. Dubbed “The Next One,” Crosby has spent an historic 18 seasons with the Penguins and entered the 2023-2024 at 25th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
The franchise boasts more than a dozen former players in the NHL Hall of Fame, including Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Bryan Trottier, and Paul Coffey. The Penguins most recently made the playoffs in 2022. To date, they've appeared in the playoffs 37 times.

Seats were really good, and the people and venue were amazing!
I’m an Air Force veteran of 23 years and purchased tickets via govx to take my two sons to their first professional hockey game. We went to see our Pittsburgh Penguins on military appreciation night and our seats were amazing. The PPG arena is a once in a lifetime event and we can’t wait to go back again. My sons said it was the greatest day of their lives
Decent seats and good price but the outcome wasn’t so great!! Waiting for some wins!!
I treated my youngest two grandsons to this game. Both play hockey and it was a wonderful experience.
The floor under our feet was very sticky! Our feet & bags stuck to the floor. At least run a mop over the floors! Then to spend all that money for a ticket & to park, you charge $17 for 3 bottles of water! It’s just crazy! That’s why I only come down for a couple games! Thank You for reading this but I know nothing will be done!
Our first Penguins game of the year and had a great timr as always!
From the start to the end I loved it. EVERY minute. I’m from Sweden, living in Norway and this is the first time for me in USA and also to see the penguins play in real life. I so, so, so much wished I could live in Pittsburgh and go to all the pratice and games. So sad they didn’t stop after the game outside though so I could have gotten an picture and autograph.
Loved it! The Bruins won and great arena! I don't think there is a bad seat in the place. Only thing that was kind of bad was the bottle necking of people leaving the arena after game.
Great center ice seats, great facility and great Pens win!!
The tickets were awsome seating and a good price .We had a good time .thank you
Ordering tickets through Ticketmastereas a breeze. Got to select my seats. Chose Section 220. Great view though seats are tight. An assortment of food option -- the ususal -- but also had Mexican and the steak quesadilla was quite good. An electric atmosphere in the arena. Lines build up quickly to enter. Shame there are not more food and drink establishments near PPG Paints Arena to hang out before and after the game.
Definitely the best game ever! First time to a Pittsburgh Penguins game, so it was definitely worth it! HOWEVER, the only negative thing I disliked about it that all the beer and food stands had a no cash only credit card policy, which was the most ridiculous thing Iv ever heard
This was my first hockey game. I wanted to see Sidney Crosby play along with Geno and Letang. Everyone told me it would be fast paced and it was but I was able to follow. I was not disappointed. Those guys really play hard. I had a great time. The crowd was terrific. And they won! If I had a complaint it would be the costof parking. Twenty eight dollars was too high! I'd like to go to more games and next time have better seats. I'm a new hockey fan!!!
Hello and good afternoon from Erie Pa!! This past experience was excellent from ordering, receiving my tickets and getting into the game!!! I can't wait to make another purchase!!!
Got to stadium early hoping to eat before game. Couldn’t find a good restaurant so went to bar. Seats were comfortable but did not have drink holders. We lost game and got heckled by a drunk fan in restroom after game. Disappointed in game as I was a Lightning fan.
I bought these tickets for my grandson and his father. He always wanted to attend a Penguins game. The seats were about 5 rows from the glass. He loved everything about his evening and said how great the seats were. I will keep this experience in the back of my mind for another special gift idea!
My first time in Pittsburgh. We arrived 1 hour before the game and we spent 30 minutes waiting to get through security check. This was by far the longest wait time I experienced when arriving this early. Once inside the experience was pretty good, but not as good as at my home team arena.
It was mine and my boyfriends first penguins game and I know it won’t be the last! There’s really no bad seats in the arena even if you aren’t sitting close to the rink. Great atmosphere and they even pulled out a win against a tough team which made it better.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Pens game at the PPG Arena. The staff was professional and courteous at all times. I look forward to attending more pens games in the near future!
Went to the Pens game Sat and Steelers game Sun! 21st birthday celebration for my son, who is a frequent Pens games attendee! It was nice having wins both days! My nephew came with us, it was his first Pens game, he loved it! I don't think he was ever to a home Steeler game either. Everyone had a great time. We stayed at the new Rivers Casino hotel and did a little gambling in between games!
