Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the National Hockey League for the 1967-1968 season during the League's expansion from six to 12 teams. The Penguins played at Civic Arena (nicknamed "the Igloo") until the 2009-2010 season, when they moved to PPG Paints Arena (formerly CONSOL Energy Center).
Postseason appearances have been nearly a birthright for the Penguins and their fans since the 1990-1991 season, after which they won five Stanley Cup Championships. They've won six conference championships and earned the Stanley Cup Champion title in back-to-back seasons (2016 and 2017) with coach Mike Sullivan and the great Sidney Crosby as captain at the helm.
In the 2005 NHL Draft the Penguins selected Crosby as their No. 1 pick. Dubbed “The Next One,” Crosby has spent an historic 18 seasons with the Penguins and entered the 2023-2024 at 25th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
The franchise boasts more than a dozen former players in the NHL Hall of Fame, including Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, Bryan Trottier, and Paul Coffey. The Penguins most recently made the playoffs in 2022. To date, they've appeared in the playoffs 37 times.

Overall the experience was very enjoyable. All the employees were helpful and happy during the game. The game was awesome with 5 goals in 4 minutes! Always love going to the arena.
If a team loses 7-2 on home ice and shows very little effort, perhaps the team should consider a refunding ticket prices. What do you think?
First time seeing a game in Pittsburgh. Had seats similar to my Toronto seats. Nice arena. Enjoyed our evening despite the Pens being uncompetitive this night. McDavid was fabulous.
I’m sure Ticketmaster won’t post this, but I wish they didn’t have a monopoly on professional sports venues. I like attending games, but Ticketmaster has gone downhill regarding customer service. The paperless tickets are great—tap and you’re in; the staff was friendly and efficient; the venue is very nice. Just not too pleased with Ticketmaster.
Great building - walked around for an hour. Not a good game - the Penguins are in a slump - and getting old!
We had tickets that were close to the ice. We had a close up view of the hockey players and even had a picture with Iceburgh!
Tickets were a present from our daughters. Great seats…would have liked more leg room as we are both tall.
I came from Thailand with my dad to train at the Lemieux arena and attend Pens games. Five in all. It has been too amazing. The PPG is easy to get into, parking not bad although a bit pricey, we wish the food vendors still took cash. The big show is fabulous, the energy is dynamite, and I got on the Jumbotron five times in January! Yay!
It was a great game on Tuesday when the Pens played against the Avalanche and what made it even better was that the Pens won in overtime!!! My boyfriend and I had a great time!! We definitely wanna go to another game soon!!

Bought tickets for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift. What a wonderful experience. Perfect game. Loved every second of the Pens vs Ottawa!!
Loved taking my 2 sons and wife to this game. My youngest turned 21 on the day of the game and it was the first Penguin game for both of them. It was the first game for me and my wife for a while as well but no matter as the atmosphere was electric and we all had an amazing time! No seats are bad at the PPG arena and it was great to see the Pens big three playing still after all these years! You cant go wrong going to a Pens game in Pittsburgh!! Looking forward to going again soon!
First time at PPG, really nice, great atmosphere at the game, but food and beverage prices are insane!!
I absolutely loved being at the game watching it live. The experience was absolutely incredible. I will be ordering season tickets next year.

It was the perfect experience for my daughter's first Pens game!
Once inside the arena, it was great. Getting there was ridiculous, traffic backed up on veterans bridge, very little signage for parking directions, very small signs stating lots where full. Left at 6:00 from Eatna, normally a twenty minute drive, finally got inside at 7:20.
