Excellent Pianist, Unimaginative Program
by FairfaxPete on 11/11/14Library of Congress - WashingtonAimard is a noted proponent of new music, but his program was made up of "old standbys" from the 3 Bs, wonderfully played, but not a complete overview of his talents. Both the Beethoven and the Brahms were worthy of the standing ovation. The Bach selections were all right, but I much prefer them played on period instruments not a Steinway Concert Grand. I would have liked a sample from the many contemporary works Aimard has championed to have also been included. An enjoyable concert experience, but a little incomplete.
