Pierre-Laurent Aimard Tickets

Aimard is a noted proponent of new music, but his program was made up of "old standbys" from the 3 Bs, wonderfully played, but not a complete overview of his talents. Both the Beethoven and the Brahms were worthy of the standing ovation. The Bach selections were all right, but I much prefer them played on period instruments not a Steinway Concert Grand. I would have liked a sample from the many contemporary works Aimard has championed to have also been included. An enjoyable concert experience, but a little incomplete.

Aimard has only been playing Bach for six years. Known as an interpreter of modern piano music, he's currently on "sabbatical" from that so he can really delve into Bach. You'd never know he hasn't been playing it forever.
