Phoenix Suns History

As Arizona's original professional sports franchise, the Phoenix Suns were established in the NBA in 1968 and for the last 30 years have been entertaining fans in downtown Phoenix at Mortgage Matchup Center (formerly PHX Arena). The rich history of the franchise includes some of most memorable teams in NBA history, including the 1975–76 "Sunderella Suns," the 1992–93 team that featured Charles Barkley and reached the NBA Finals, and the ":07 Seconds or Less" era teams, during which Steve Nash was twice named the league's MVP.

Enshrined in the Suns’ Ring of Honor are Alvan Adams, Barkley, Tom Chambers, Jerry Colangelo, Walter Davis, Cotton Fitzsimmons, Connie Hawkins, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Al McCoy, John MacLeod, Nash, Joe Proski, Dick Van Arsdale and Paul Westphal.

The Phoenix Suns had a successful 2020–21 season, winning the Western Conference and narrowly falling in the NBA Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Suns ended the 2021–2022 season with a franchise record of 64 wins and finished with the NBA's best record by eight games above the second best, the league's largest differential in 22 years. They also made back-to-back appearances in the Western Conference semifinals in 2022 and 2023.

  • The best

by FogFam on 12/12/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

Having now been to multiple NBA games after traveling through the US from Australia, I can honestly say the Suns games at Footprint were by far the best experience and atmosphere and easiest place to access out of them all!! Can’t wait to go again.

I loved the arena and set up. The game itself had too many fouls, but overall it was a nice experience.

The game is super enjoyable and love that you get to go to the game 2 hours before!

  • Great game, great view, food was EXPENSIVE

by Nick on 12/4/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time at the Suns-Nuggets game. We were Upper level, but the view was great. My only negative was the price of the food. For one order of nachos, one eight inch pizza, one hot dog, and three sodas, we paid $99. Love the NBA, had a great experience, but won't buy food/drinks next time.

  • Wish I had brought ear plugs

by JB on 11/28/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Haven’t been to a Suns game in years. It was a good game and the arena is great. My only issue was how loud the music was and the type of music. I guess I’m older than the demographic they are after. I immediately wished I had brought ear plugs. I’ll probably just keep watching from home.

  • AMAZING

by Mimi on 11/25/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

Had a wonderful time, recommend my seat in section 120! Got an autograph from Gary Payton at the end of the game. Suns won and I was able to see KD and Dbook win against the Warriors!

  • Food Drink with Seats!

by Phoenix on 11/19/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

Really liked the view from our seats. Seats came with food and drinks, so it was perfect! Good game and entertainment during down times.

  • First NBA Game

by bjfk on 11/16/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Hi - loved my first experience at an NBA game. Sat in the rafters due to Lebron surge pricing - more than my 11th rom goal line tickets at the Cardinals 2 days later. Entertainment before and during the game was great. Host was very good as well. We loved the whole El Valle theme for the in season tournament. Stadium is easy to get around in with plenty to see. A brawl broke out just outside the main entrance afterward. No security or police to be found. The only real negative was the sticker shock on food and beer. 17.50 for a self serve can of domestic??? The Cards had a better choice of craft and domestic all for 12.

  • Perfect

    by Pablochope24 on 11/13/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

It’s one of the best moments of my life with my dad and brother

  • Seats were horrible

by Marcel Flenory on 11/13/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 1 out of 5

The 360 view was nowhere near accurate or gave a good idea of what the view would be. I will never trust it again and will only go to games at stadiums where I know what the view would look like. I do not have money to waste but I left before the game started and watched from the 1st level on the Jumbotron while I ate. It would have been better if I kept my money and watched at a very good restaurant. Live Nation is horrible.

  • A great game in a great atmosphere

by MattyMay on 11/13/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

My family really enjoyed the game and there were a lot of extra things going on that made that atmosphere exciting.

  • Good time!

by AC on 11/5/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Overall a great experience. The one thing the planners could consider is including the upper (nose bleed) sections in the free giveaways. I get the tickets are cheaper but not everyone can afford the lower level. But otherwise I’d attend in the future.

  • Amazing game!!!

by Goo on 11/3/23Footprint Center - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

I took my girls to the opening home game. It was packed and the Diamondbacks were winning so the atmosphere was really electric inside the stadium. The sun had a blowout, which made the night even better.
